He didn't say no I would never rape anyone. The implication is and it is a pretty clear one is that he would rape some one if they were his type.

No, he's not admitting that. That would be like if someone falsely accused you of shoplifting a Pepsi, and you said "I don't even like Pepsi". You're not admitting that you would steal something that you do like, it's just another point you're making prove your innocence.

Assuming this did happen, it's not even a rape attempt.

And if things weren't obvious enough, she went into the dressing room with a man alone. She was probably flirting with him and he got the impression she was interested. He makes a move and she realize she wasn't interested when he wanted sex. She pushed back and left and that was the end of it.

She comes out 25 years later, after the MeToo movement to sell a few books. If a woman goes to an isolated dressing room with a man, what was she expecting? A conversation? She is not a child. She is a 50 year old woman with enough life experience to know what to expect.

I'll acknowledge that it doesn't automatically mean that he is a rapist but you are 100% downplaying how bad of an answer that is.

I am a lawyer and if I was doing a deposition or crossing someone that answered the question of "did you rape her?" with "she isn't my type" it would lead to a slew of other related questions that are all bad. It is such a ridiculous way to say that you didn't do something terrible.

Cops, lawyers, judges, good interviewers -- essentially anyone that asks people questions -- would instantly notice the issue with that answer and it would do nothing but lead to other questions. It is a terrible response and suggest that rape is not out the question for that individual.
