So... it looks like we are gonna hit this iceberg.

Ive been thinking about it and about our future. Can we survive?

Theoretically speaking, as things get hotter, wouldnt Africans have an advantage? Should I take a Ugandan bride to make sure my lineage continues well into the future?

Humans will die eventually - realistically speaking the planet will become completely untenable for humans in about 250 million years or so, even ignoring any effect we personally have on the planet, or the potential for catastrophe (like a world-killer asteroid we can't stop somehow).

Long-term human survival basically requires viable long-distance space travel and the ability to actually capitalize on whatever we might find out there. As well as worthwhile planets being available in the first place.

Though even then, you'd almost certainly still have multiple bottleneck moments for the species where current conditions become untenable to support the full existing population. Mandatory or voluntary population control might help with that, but even then unexpected and sudden shifts would still cause problems.

Climate change is in fact real, proof there have been cycles of heating and cooling on the earth for as long as it's been around. What's fake is the fact humans play any part in it's going up or down. It's all just a way for the global elite to control and get rich off of people's ignorance.

IDK what your're going on about with Africa mate. It's crop cycles and food supplies and rising sea levels that will be the issue mate, not whether our skin can't handle the heat.

Isn't Kindergarten science great? Seriously, it does look like we're approaching another Maunder mini-ice age in the next few years, though. A good time to invest in wool socks and space heaters.

I took the family to the zoo and it was close to 100 degrees. We were sweating up a storm, and there just so happened to be a dude from Africa there directing traffic. Accent and everything. I secretly hoped if I acted like I didnt know where the members parking was hed say, Do you know the way?

Anyway, he was nice and spoke to us and he said how lucky he was cause he doesnt even feel the heat. At least not like us. And so I responded with, Yeah but youre probably hating the winter. That was my way of jabbin him a bit. Lol.

So yeah, the overall temperature is going to go up. And hell(maybe literally?), who knows how high itll go. But if thats a factor then perhaps those who can best take the heat will have the best chance of survival.

Yes I know theres more factors in place but Im not exactly wrong either.

You're right, the fossil fuel companies profit greatly by keeping the common man ignorant about mankind's effect on the climate.

Chemistry class? Astronomy class would be more appropriate for sunspot cycles, Meteorology for atmospheric layers and weather patterns, etc.

I'm all for an apocalypse but yeah, humanity is not going extinct any time soon.

Technology is too advanced for that.

As I keep trying to explain, we could easily survive on mars right now if we could get there fairly easy. It's going to take alot to make this planet less hospitable then mars, and even then, we could still survive.

Why?

It's simple, the harsher the living conditions, the more of the population will die, which means less will be needed for the humans that remain. Even without many (or any at this point) fossil fuels etc, small groups of humans could survive, even without any atmosphere at all. It would take something huge to actually wipe out all humans on this planet (A large enough meteor to smash the earth into multiple pieces for instance).

We may not make it into space until most of the humans living on the world die, and those remaining rebuild, but we will probably eventually colonize other worlds/moons in our solar system at least.

I wish I believed we would do that without destroying this planet, to the point where humans are pretty much all that is left (other then those animals raised for consumption or as pets). Sadly I think us destroying nature to such an extent (probably while in the process of destroying most of our population) is very likely.

We are like locusts apon the earth at this point, with the only primary difference being, we are intelligent locusts that will be able to survive after we eat everything in our way.

You can't dump that much noxious gas into a system and claim it has no effect. Chemistry 101.

The wealthiest humans will certainly be fine, at least in the short term. It's developing countries and the poor who won't be able to cope with the changes.

Technology isn't going to melt though. The advantages that wealthy countries have will allow them to develop preventative measures against the negative effects of global warming.

What we're likely to see over the next couple centuries is the largest and slowest refugee crisis in history, with victims of flooding and food shortages trying to flee to whichever nations have the technology to adapt to the changing climate.

Pretty much the best case scenerio, but honestly not likely to happen. I would state my theories on what will actually happen, but it's depressing and wouldn't help anyone. I deeply regret never getting to have children as I always wanted a family, but I must say it was probably a good thing in the long run (and by having children I include adoption which is what I would have done).

Wow, I didn't know global warming was made up, but a couple of posters itt showed me the light.

How's it feel to be more knowledgeable than 90% or so of scientists? No, seriously, you've got a real gift calling these things without any kind of process or evidence. You really do humanity a huge service, I only wish the rest of the country was more like you.

It must be sad being such a genius in a world full of idiots. Every country has somehow independently come up with their own reasoning to believe that humans do in fact cause global warming by releasing large amounts of greenhouse gases into the air, but how silly of them. I guess this is just a normal thing.

It's funny that only the United States, being liberated from big science, thanks to liberating contributions from large oil companies, is able to fund and prop up these messengers to talk some sense into these scientists. Ha, America sure has a funny way of being the best.

Heck, I'm so confident in your wisdom that I'm willing to put the fate of the entire human race into your hands
