I feel like nearly everything wrong with the final season basically revolves around the producers no longer giving a shit and being in a hurry to start working on their new Star Wars series, so a lot of that pitch meeting actually rings kind of true for me.

"We could give you more time..."

"Nah, I don't wanna."

Bran went north so he could learn how to stop the NK, but if he hadn't gone north and messed everything up then the NK wouldn't have ever invaded Westeros. Even though the NK was already going to invade in the first place from what we were lead to believe. Now, pretty sure this is just an inconsistency in the show and GRRM will come up with something that actually makes sense of Bran's trip to become the TER.

But yeah I'm sure that guy is so fucking cool that he's never been upset about the way any show, movie, or game ended ever. If you have never been then that just means you never really enjoyed anything so maybe we should feel bad for him

Not so sure. Avengers endgame was kind of a mess the more you think about it yet the general consensus was and still is fairly positive. I think despite the questionable plot and inconsistencies, it didn't betray it's core essence and earned all of its moments.

There were some cool moments in game of thrones but many felt like a quick deviant art fan project and some twists felt like swerving into a guardwall when your destination is two exits up. I forget if it was a meme or someone here that said it but it really did seem like getting bored and trashing your game only to accidently save over your quicksave.

There are indeed exceptions where most folk will actually enjoy said ending. Those are few and far between. Still it's not so much about enjoying the ending or not. It's more about the constant crying like a child that irks me. Unless of course these people are actually children.

Season 8 was a disappointment on all levels except acting. It wouldn't be so bad if I had any faith Martin was going to finish the books.

Not at all. Whinging is having no point and just basically shitting all over something. Constructive criticism gives valid reasons as to why you think what you do and valid ways to improve something. I have some negative feelings about this season myself so it would be hypocritical of me to only want praise. I'm aware youtube videos are just made for clicks though so eh whatever works for them.

I very much get the feeling that they didn't end the show exactly the way he was planning to end the books anyway. They dropped way too many storylines and subplots for the show, which may have straight up made his intended ending entirely untenable. And a lot of the time the last few seasons of the show seemed to be giving into fan-pandering, which left them in an even more awkward place to try to force everything back into the original pattern.

I do agree we'll never know because he's never going to write or publish those books.

We might get one more book out of him assuming he doesn't die within the next three years. But the last book probably isn't going to happen.

He's supposedly got more than a thousand pages written for book 6, but he's also left strict instructions that if he dies literally all of his unpublished work and notes get burned.

My assumption is that he could live another 20 years and we'll still never see book six, because he hates the fans and he doesn't want to publish it. He's just going to keep writing prequel novels until he dies.
