going over every game in my backlog/that i'm remotely interested in playing and deciding whether they're worth playing/finishing instead of actually playing them and finally giving some games the axe once and for all.

because i like planning to do stuff more than actually doing stuff. how long can i keep this up

Devil May Cry - i've tried to start this like two times and thought it was fine but never got fully into it but I love the characters, universe, etc. so i'm trying to finish this nah mean

Ico - also started this and thought it was pretty cool but just never got back to it

Shenmue - i've never played this but based on things i've heard/seen, it's starting to seem like this was just overrated all along. i've played Yakuza now and i was inevitably reminded of it once i saw Shenmue on this list which led to a google search and a destructoid article saying that the two aren't really similar because Shenmue focuses more on realism, which if true makes me just think of Shenmue more as a game I appreciate for existing but not something I'd have fun playing.

SSX Tricky - i played this for like twenty minutes more than 10 years ago.

Metroid Prime - scanning

Looked a little more into this and yeah I'm okay with a pass on this one, not really my thing.

The original Paper Mario's overrated IMO, but it's still worth a play to see if the Paper Mario style is for you. If so, you can move on to the vastly superior Thousand-Year Door.

what about just jumping straight into Thousand Year Door

I think having played the first will make you appreciate TTYD more, the first is good, and if playing both it makes sense in that order.

It is possible to jumo straight into TTYD, but it would be a shame to miss oit on the first.

Paper Mario is a lot more "Mario" than TTYD, while TTYD is more of a deconstruction of what Paper Mario set up, but with better gameplay. Both are still pretty great, but Paper Mario is more of an easy to zone out game, while TTYD takes more of your attention. Both nail the tone they're going for, but just depends on if you want a more relaxed or more active game.
