Couldn't think of an adequately worded title. My brain is not working tonight. Basically is there any part of your gaming world you are ashamed of?

Mine is - despite being a big fan of the Parasite Eve games and put in many hours into them, the only one I've completed is the 3rd Birthday.

I'm currently rectifying that by playing through the first one.

My ps3 copy had made itself unplayable through horrible frame rates

I have never finished a Zelda game (and have only played one of them for more than 10 minutes, AND it was just Minish Cap).

When I first made online accounts as a middle schooler, my username was SolidSnake362. I thought Solid Snake was super cool because my brothers really liked Metal Gear Solid. I have never beaten a Metal Gear game other than Rising, and I have never played any of the others except for Twin Snakes (for about 30 minutes each).

Also buying a game, not playing it and then buying the remaster a few years later and still not playing that for a while either.

Its not the same kind of fail, but Im also probably one of the few people here who has never really played MGS, RE, Metroid and lots of other stuff.

We have shelves full of games around here that I could've played over the past several years, but never did. There's so many that I have no idea where I'd even start.

My first Final Fantasy game (other than Final Fantasy Legend, which isn't a real FF game anyway) was X-2. Not that I don't still absolutely love that game, but it does feel weird that I played it before even FFX.

On a somewhat related note, I'm a big fan of FFXIII and XIII-2, but I never got around to playing Lightning Returns.

A few things, and in combination they are even worse

just the fact that I have a backlog is bad for me

I never grew up with alot of games, it was super rare to receive one. and usually they're bargain bin games. This also inspired my 100% completion tendencies as well, since who the hell knew when I was gonna get another game

another bad thing is that I replay games I know instead of exploring new stuff and beating my backlog
I'm like this in general, I rewatch shows and movies instead of going through my netflix playlist. Maybe in my older age I'm afraid of trying new things.

finally, I LOVE grinding. I've come to this conclusion because in RPGs, I have an eye for finding great grinding spots in relative in where I am in the game, how much I get, and how easy it is. Its satisfying because I'm getting money, and my boys are getting stronger, and its almost soothing when I have a rhythm down for it

However, once I stop....I also stop the game. I dunno if I just got what I wanted out of it or I got burned out, but it happens quite a bit. Recent examples being KH 1 and Digimon CS

- I used a strategy guide my first time through the original Resident Evil.
- The first time I played through DMC1 & 3, I used Easy Automatic
- My first time playing through the Resident Evil series, I wasn't able to beat Code Veronica because of the Steve boss.
- Selling many of my PS1, GameCube, & PS2 games when I got my X360 because I didn't think I was going to play them anymore. Got most of them back though, and thank god I didn't get rid of any my horror games with how expensive they are now!

I've never beaten a mainline Final Fantasy game. The furthest I ever got was in FFXII for the PS2. I've only even played like 5 of them maybe

I've put in over 2000 hours of competitive play for Rocket League

I lost my Pokemon Emerald save like 10 years ago and it was almost complete with hundreds of hours on it and multiple legit shinies. It pissed me off so fucking much I haven't ever played another main pokemon game I'm stil sour about that.

When I was young I saved up enough money to buy Star Fox 64.

My mom thought it would be cute for me to go in and make the purchase all on my own.

I walked out with a brand new copy of Cruisin' USA.

Accidentally deleting my FF1 file (by messing up the savestate option) on the NES Classic when I was in literally the final dungeon of the game. I should have experimented with the savestates to figure it out on some OTHER game before trying to do it on FF1..... *sigh*

I remember deleting my ENTIRE Super Smash Bros. Melee file in 2006 in 6th Grade.

I still have no idea why I did. I had unlocked everybody, almost every stage and got all the trophies almost.

Oh wow! This resurrected a memory.

I totally ruined this kid's save of dragon warrior monsters by accident when breeding his monsters

The npc asks 'would you like us to record this momentous event'? And won't let the egg hatch unless you say yes. 8 year old me had no idea that equated to saving, and that game boys only had one save slot. So his 2 best monsters were just gone

Because in that game, as everyone knows, after 2 monsters breed, they both peace out forever and you're left with the baby. That's why they're monsters

Yeah did the same thing with almost all of my PS2 games after I got a PS3

Didn't even get much money for them and I spent $25 of it on TimeShift, one of the worst gaming purchases I've ever made

I'll also throw in a shameful gaming won. I accidentally stole my friend's copy of Kirby's Nightmare in Dreamland. I don't know how it happened, I just one day found the game in my collection one day with his name written on it in Sharpie and we didn't really hang out as much so I kept it

It ultimately introduced me to one of my favorite series and became my all-time favorite Gameboy game

I was legitimately scared of getting killed by the giant spider in the Atari 2600 game Mountain King. I don't remember how it got to this point, but I wound up sobbing because of it. (I hadn't even seen the spider at that point.)

Worse, I wasn't even that young, maybe 7 or 8.

Specifically the fact that I haven't finished Wind Waker, when I have 16-year old save file in which I got pretty far, is kinda bad. I've probably put about 50 hours into the Zelda series though so it's not like I've skipped over it completely.

I actually beat the infamous "Veni, Vidi, Vici" section of VVVVVV, only to get stuck on a faux co-op section to the point of abandoning my playthrough. To this day, I still haven't started it up again.
