I reached Fort Boise after my family died but thieves stole my Ox and I was resigned to being a Hunter/meat trader there for survival as the game put me into a dead end.

Didn't die but lost all my loved ones but did. I suppose my traveler settled down with a new family but the game obviously doesn't have an ending like that.

"A thief comes in the night and steals 6 oxen" (and somehow everyone in your groups sleeps so soundly they can't be awoken even by the sounds of yelping oxen being moved)

man times must've been tough on the trails to Oregon.

Farmer and started March

Probably would try Banker next time.

I almost always used carpenter. Got so sick of busted axles or wheels. Lack of beginning cash is a tough start though.

I think I always bought only enough food to last a few days, since you'll easily get more than enough food to survive on by hunting at the first stop. What? I've already killed 3 bison and can't even do anything with the 2nd one? Pshaw! I'm taking down those four deer, two bears, and another bison for good measure!
