Just saw a buzzfeed thing about him. He's up to 24 wins now..and almost 2 mill won. While he still doesn't hold the record for most won, he is getting close at only 1/3 the number of games as the previous record holder. At 24 games he's just under 2 mill and at 74 the previous winner had 2.5 mill.

Looks like he'll easily break it in 1/2 as many wins at this rate, if he makes it that far.

Even if he doesn't considering the amount of time it takes to play each set, it would probably be better to win a ton quickly, then to actually play 74 (even though they film more then one on a day, I think it's still 5 per week, which means 74 games would take 15 weeks, or at least 4 months to win that much.

Even if he lost tomorrow he'd basically have done it in a bit over a month and walked away with over a mill after taxes lol.

He should easily overtake Jenning's normal game winnings (since he's almost there), but I suspect he won't beat Jenning's win streak.

Statistically it's crazy that he has not already lost since he often bets it all on double jeapordies etc. I guess he often dominates by so much that even if he did lose it all, he might still pull back ahead. I believe they said he has a 97% correct answer ratio lol.

Still, if I was him, i'd start hedging my bets a bit and aim to always have more then the other players after betting at this point. He already has the top 10 winnings in one game, so slowing down a bit to ensure he keeps going, would probably be worth it.

He has played 24 times and has almost 2million that is almost 100k average per game...which is pretty insane considering that it's almost = the the highest previous record lol.

If he aimed for half of that, playing it a bit safe, he might never loose, it would become his show or something, maybe they would pay him off so he stopped eventually *hehe*

It takes alot to get to the point where you don't need anymore now adays, especially when you pay taxes and lose about half of it.

To comfortably live of the interest invested in something totally safe (about 3% a year), you would need at least 6 million after taxes, or 12 mill winnings....which even if he keeps winning with this average would take more games then 74 (about 100 wins).

At which point at 3% interest he would have a nice $200k a year to spend forever hehe.

I guess it depends on other things, too. Like if he already has a house fully paid for and stuff. And what kind of lifestyle he lives...

Well supposedly he was a professional gambler or something like that......not sure if that is a polite way of saying a bumb, or that he actually makes tons of money gambling.

I gotta wonder if he has a gambling addiction the way he plays though....he might just go lose it all after playing lolz.

The way you described him before saying he was a professional gambler does kind of fit with hearing that hes a professional gambler...

I found it interesting the lady farthest to the right last night never broke zero during the course of the game - I wonder if that's ever happened before.

James is certainly killing it and has the knowledge to back up his very aggressive play. I think that whenever he eventually loses, it will be by the same method he wins. He's gonna bet it all and then get a question that he doesn't know rather than lose in a close match.

Yeah, it's just their bad luck that they wound up playing on a night with him. I imagine whoever does beat him will do so by a fluke and then lose the following night, being forgotten just like the woman who beat Jennings

The dude is a meat grinder against waves of burgers and steaks for competition. It's awesome to watch. The guy seemingly knows a ton in basically every category there is.

He broke $2mil tonight with a $70k something win vs a poor burger with a couple thousand. The third burger somehow got both daily doubles in double jeopardy and lost the both- then never made it out of the hole and missed final jeopardy altogether. If he let James grab a daily double or two he would've probably had another $100k day.

If you think you can get the answer right, you should go for big bets on double jeopardy. It's a way to maximize the amount of money you make, which he is trying to do I think.

Actually I feel James has another huge advantage when he finds the DDs: Time. The regular questions you have to compete against two others for the right to try and answer, DDs on the other hand it's all him. And since his knowledge base is unreal anyhow he's given way more singular time to prepare and answer, most of the time correctly.

I was shocked he actually got two questions wrong yesterday. Usually he either only gets one wrong and occasionally doesn't miss any. That's nuts. The Teachers Tourney the past couple weeks really highlighted what a freak James is (in a good way). Those players would routinely get questions wrong or miss the DDs.

The bar for the teachers tournament is always stupidly low, though. It's worse than kids week.
