Parents and Students are outraged after a private Catholic School is officially BANNING SKIRTS because girls insisted on wearing them which that made male teachers feel "uncomfortable" and have "undesirable urges"!!

Cathedral Catholic High School in San Diego said the controversial decision was madea fter teaches issued "thousands of hours of detention" to girls for flouting the dress code by modifying the length!!

Principal Kevin Calkin sent a letter to parents stating "The main challenge with dress code has been length of girls' skirts. The school has made many attempts to rectify this challenge"

Until now, female students were allowed to wear skirts that were not too tight or figure hugging. They were required to be no shorter than 3 inches from the top of the kneecap while standing upright

He said male staff feel uncomfortable now addressing females on their skirts and have confided to priests that their "undesirable urges" are making it hard to teach.

Females will NOW be allowed to wear PANTS, capri pants or bermuda shorts and the male students have the option of wearing pants or shorts

Before the ban, girls could wear skirts that were not excessively tight or form fitting

This move has sparked outrage with an online petition that reached almost 3000 signatures

A protest was held claiming it was unfair to punish all students when just a handful flout the rules

Mimi Cleary, a student said "Oh my gosh it is so bad right now. Everyone wants to leave Cathedral and like it's not the best. No one wants the skirts going, like literally no one wants the skirts gone. I think only the principal and male teachers want the skirts gone"

Michelle Adams, whose 2 daughtrse go there said there was no dress code violations and no detention given to girls for wearing skirts too short who said she suggested girls wear SPANDEX under the shorts

She's angry on why they have to punish everyone when only a few violated the rule. Michelle says "This mentality of collective punishment doesn't seem to be the right answer. I don't understand why women are constantly being told you need to be more like men, we're not. we're different. How many girls do you see walking around in Bermuda shorts, that's just not something they're comfortable in".

Supporters of the petition are calling it SEXIST and that a girl's skirt length is a distraction only if they see girls as sexualized objects.

It's also ironic that once upon a time a girl couldn't wear pants.

When I was younger I went to a church for a while that in one of the sermons said women should wear dresses or skirts, and nothing too flashy. They were gung ho about how women should wear skirts or dresses, and that pants were for men.

If your teachers are having "undesirable urges" then I think you have a bigger problem than girls wearing skirts.

Give them longer skirts. Pretty sure women in jeans is against something in the Bible anyway.

Those skirts in the top two pics do seem way too short for school or a workplace, though. The girls themselves aren't that attractive to me, but something just doesn't seem "right" about the skirts.

That's how my uncles church is, I find it pretty sexist honestly.

The reasoning behind it is unnerving but that's always been the dress code for every private Catholic school that I know of. Can't be too short/form sitting and can't be above a certain length.

Females will NOW be allowed to wear PANTS

Hold on, they weren't before?
I know this isn't the main point of the topic, but that sort of seems skimmed over...

I went to a catholic school and any student was allowed to wear school-pants regardless of gender.

Nah, there are hygiene issues with hundreds of different dirty ass holes rubbing up against the same seating. If you choose to go nude at school, you need to bring a towel to sit on, or you'll be sent home - as much for your own good as anyone else.

What's sad is every time there's a report of teenagers trying to express themselves, you claim the rules are fair while completely glossing over the larger issue.

The only thing that's relevant is the actual dress code. If they are following this then the rest isn't even going to happen. It's called getting right to the point and not thriving in fake outrage and drama that tabloids love to draw attention too. I can't blame them though when folk like yourself love that kind of stuff. I on the other hand don't do drama and get right to the point as you know I'm a adult.
