They paid it off with the utter destruction of a major house, then gave the spotlight to Arya's other assassin skills. The face-swap magic-trick could easily have felt cheap if they had overused it. I think it would have been cool to see Arya use a face and play the Game of Faces with Littlefinger in Season 7 (that whole plot was underdeveloped, imo), but I didn't really need another major kill using face magic. I do wonder how it will come into play in the books though, where it seems that a different character will be responsible for wiping out House Frey... the books may need to give Arya something else to do with that ability. --- I bow before my emperor, Advokaiser-- winner of the 2019 guru contest.
