For my part, I've watched others play it but never done so myself, not because I didn't know it was there but because I never really learned how it worked. I used to know loads of physical card games, most now forgotten, but never learned that one.

I'd rather play Hearts, tbh. How about you lot?

u put the red ones on the blacks ones.

Haven't played it on computer in awhile, I I think the last time I played it was like 2 years ago tho that was wit physical cards. I used to play a lot of card games with friends, Kaiser, Rummy, Crib, plus dice games like yahtzee and ten thousand. Crib is the go to game for people around here. My sister used to get me to play double solitaire with her when I was little(like 5) but I forget how it works now.

We played spades on the truck all the time at work... I use to play with friends back home, and never understood it. Once I got to base, though, I started to actually understand how to play...

I've touched it before, but the poll specifies games, so I selected none since I've never actually played a whole game. I dislike solitaire to the point I dislike that shade of green, and I refuse to allow it to waste my drive space by being installed.

I've never been a big card player but there was a short span in 1998 where I just messed around in Windows solitaire out of boredom (waiting for a class to begin), and I very semi-learned to play it. I had a win rate of maybe 5%.

I've played perhaps 5 games of solitaire since then.

I knew someone who tried to win every solitaire game (since apparently, if you win one it won't give you that particular game again until you run out).
I played the game quite a bit myself, but never to that dedication.

From memory their PC died and they gave up on their goal.

Not sure it would even be possible within a lifetime. Pretty sure there are billions upon billions of different possible organizations of the cards

I'm trying to figure out what counting cards in Spades would accomplish. For the vast majority of plays, you're pretty much forced to play a specific card. Unless you only played a few games, it would quickly become pretty much impossible to win every game.

Cribbage is the best card game that uses a classic deck of cards. Perfect mix of luck+skill, takes some experience to really know how to play it well.

The only thing counting cards can do is tell you who has what. But since you cant control anyone, it doesnt do much. You dont know what you partner will play or what anyone will play for that matter...

I just played Windows Solitaire for the first time in years and won on my first try. I wonder if it's biased toward being easy?

I've been looking at the rules of Spades and it's kinda like Kaiser, and I would say yes that knowing who has what is an advantage.

You have an advantage, yes. But it doesn't mean you'll definitely win. You have to know who
s going to play what. And there are certain times when you can only play certain things... So, while knowing has it's advantages, it's not a definite win. Or even as necessary as other games...

I'm kinda going off Kaiser here but I can definitely anticipate who's gonna throw what and if you have a good partner he can too, especially with trump cards you can work together. You throw a low suit that he doesn't have but the the other team does then he throws a trump to take a trick and whatnot.

Fuck I miss playing Kaiser.

It's still depends on what you bet. And most people can usually figure out what people have after a few hands, anyway. After playing the game enough times. Especially with the same people. And while you normally can figure out what they're going to do, sometimes, people do something weird that you wouldn't expect. Sometimes for a reason, though. Either way, like I said, I agree that you have an advantage. But I don't think that will always net you a win. Especially when you are forced to play certain cards sometimes...
