Like, moments that impressed you so much that you still remember them.

For me, chronologically:

1) Donkey Kong Country: Its ACM graphics and multiple parallax scrolling were just amazing. Add to that the storm, snow and water effects and you got a once-in-a-lifetime experience.

2) Killer Instinct (arcade) - Basically same experience as DKC but bigger

3) Super Mario 64: Coming from SNES games, seeing the lakitu cam move through the actual gameplay world while "filming" made my jaw drop.

4) Batman - gamecube: Coming from N64 games, I finally experienced a game with CD quality cinemas and audio. The cinema where the joker says "Mary had a little boy, whose neck was on the noose! FOr every ___, the joker lights a fuse! - J" in actual Mark Hamil voice acting was amazing

5) Bioshock - just when I thought no game would ever shock me with is graphics, this game came out,... it was amazing.

Shadow of the Colossus wins this easily for me, with three different moments.

The first one of course.
The last one at its sheer size

And than Avion for a giant stone bird being able to fucking fly. Hitching a ride on it, trying to stab the thing to death while it does barrel rolls trying to shake you off is just such a damn epic moment. I remember pausing the game and thinking this is the single coolest thing i've ever experienced in a videogame.

Ocarina of Time. Watched my buddy play the final boss and at the time I've never played a n64 i owned a SNES.

I was amazed that he was actually playing a video game it looked epic at the time.

Metroid Prime was another one my first gamecube game (I skipped from owning a SNES to a GC) that game looked gorgeous and the game had a detailed and lively world/environment i was sucked into its world. Great gaming experience.

Finally I'd probably say Fallout 3. I've esenever played a open world rpg like that so my mind was blow especially after leaving the vault entering a whole new world I really had no idea what to expect that universe was new to me at the time. These kind of moments are hard to recapture but these 3 games really changed my out look on gaming.

Streets of Rage 2(?) when Mr. X sends you back to stage 6 depending on how you answer a question

i was playing co-op with my mom, and we got to the last level. i was mashing buttons to get through the dialogue faster, and she kept being like "hey, read what it says!" i ignored her then we got sent back

edit: this event made my draw drop because at my young age at the time, i could never even think of a video game doing something like that. always read the goddamn dialogue friendos.

AC3 plot twist
Phantasy Star III plot twist
When Colossus 1 turned his head and his eyes turned red

MGS1 hind flyover cutscene (dat vibration)
MGS1 tank intro cutscene
MGS1 Sniper Wolf death
MGR Monsoon fight
KH2 final boss
KH Days, this one seriously underrated dialog between (IIRC) Demyx and Xigbar
I never actually played this one, but The Last Guardian when Trico rescues you from the stained glass shield bearers
When you summon Odin against Seifer
The abduction in ME2
The cutscene after the Bane fight in Arkham Asylum (probably the biggest ever for me)
The collapsing building in Uncharted 2

Chronolocical order...

Star Fox for SNES, and then Donkey Kong Country.

Playing Tekken in the arcades, sometime around 1995 or so. Such a huge leap over Street Fighter, it just blew my mind.

Decent and Half Life 1 on the PC, after buying a "Voodoo 3" 3dfx video card to upgrade my Pentium 2. I'd never experienced anything like it, and I instantly lost interest in my N64. Suddenly, Ocarina of Time, Turok, and Super Mario 64 looked 20 years old in a blink of an eye.

Honestly, it only ever happened the same way in 5 and 6 before that, and not in the same capacity.

Chrono Trigger: Crono dying was a real curve-ball. Even today, I can't think of many RPGs that kill off the main character
FFVII: Aeris' death, obviously, but also the entire sequence with Tifa in Cloud's head. That's a really heavy sequence that basically finally solves the mystery of what happened in Nibelheim and the mystery of what Cloud's deal is
Super Mario RPG: Wait...Bowser is in my party? He's working with Mario!? This. Is. AMAZING.
Romance of the Three Kingdoms VI: Wait...there's an event chain for the Girdle Decree plot that I've never seen?*
*This requires a number of things to happen starting from the 194 scenario that are highly unlikely to all happen.

I didn't see it coming either. I had played 4 first so the Haytham name rang a bell and so did the ending credit scene in 4 where you're at the cinema with your son.

So the fact that he was a Templar really shocked me, especially since you're using the wrist blades and climbing to synchronize and stuff.

There were some moments in online games that always got me.

In the multiplayer FPS-RTS "Natural Selection", one team plays as Marines who get their gear from a commander and one team plays as aliens who get resources from their team and they can evolve their own abilities and stuff. And one of the late game evolutions is called an Onos, it's basically a giant rhino thing and if it catches you and eats you you're done. Virtually *every* time I saw that thing I felt this adrenaline rush as I tried to run to the nearest air vent before it could reach me. Or if it did eat me I was hoping my team would kill it while I was still alive in its stomach (you saw a weird screen of a moving stomach lining when it swallowed you).

And Left 4 Dead 2, when you're on that finale and you have like thirty seconds left, then twenty, then ten, then you're running to the landing zone and ... your teammate goes down and you gotta leave them behind. That was always tragic af but the timing always contributed to the atmosphere.

Bioshock Infinite - First discovering Columbia
GTA: San Andreas - My first experience playing a sandbox game coincides with that game being one of the best in its genre. I was like "you can do these things in a videogame???!!"
Dota, Tekken, Hearthstone - Awesome plays, strange interaction, etc. from tournament matches.
Spec-Ops: The Line - I spoiled the white phosporus scene, which is a shame. But the rest of the game still pulls off many surprises.
