I agree with what she's saying, but at the same time I feel as though appearing on FoxNews is the only way to penetrate that large section of their viewership that only watches FoxNews. Those people will only hear negative things about Warren, and won't hear any of her actual words

That's a solid justification. But I'm also sympathetic to the argument that Fox News is the only way to reach some voters... not that it matters much for the primary, but the eventual Democratic nominee needs to start building name recognition across the entire electorate now (if they don't already have it).

I don't think she's saying boycotting Fox for content cripples Fox, after all she still expects to see them at any public event any Democratic candidate hosts. She is saying don't give them exclusive content because they don't act in good faith and don't deserve the ad revenue.

It's definitely more than that. Many on the left are constantly wondering why our luminaries keep going on Fox in good faith and then get surprised to find the conversation isn't on the up and up. Few institutions have been as destructive to political discourse in America as Fox news and a big part of that is the impulse by politicians to legitimatize them as journalists and default to norms where they should probably leave them alone. Let their copy writers spin the narrative they were going to spin anyway.

I think you'd have a stronger critical angle here attacking the cult of ideological purity as it manifests within the left and point to the clear success of the Sanders showing as evidence that there may be actual common ground that Dems can use to gain unlikely voters from Fox viewers. Implying that Warren in particular is purely playing for greater visibility kind of just handwaves Warren's reputation and approach to this race as the 'policy expert' candidate.

But Warren's been dealing with this from jump with people dismissing every headline she's made as a attention seeking political theatre. Your assessment is consistent with that. But then you have me wondering how many of us would bring the same skepticism to Sanders, or Booker, or current frontrunner Biden.

this isn't a question of policy, so I'm unsure how I'm handwaving anything as far as how she's presented herself in this race

Yeah, she is using her policy platform to get attention. There's nothing wrong with that, or with this, either. Saying this is about anything other than attention is just kind of weird, especially coming from movement leftists. Like, you guys already know how organizing and solidarity works, so it should be easy to see how this is a big nothing. It's like saying your personal decision not to shop at Walmart is meaningful, that's not how strikes or boycotts or anything works. It's not about an individual or individual organization, I know I am not telling you anything you don't know.

What have the other people done? Sanders and Biden don't need to grab for headlines, though yeah that is why Sanders cosponsored the credit card usury legislation he recently unveiled. He is mostly coasting on the good will he generated in 2016. Biden isn't running on anything except for name recognition and the good will he generated being Obama's VP. Cory Booker isn't doing anything, and when he tries, it's something that bites him in the ass like that crap he said about Sanders proposal to let inmates vote. But yes, he did say that for attention, too.

w/r/t to the purity angle and the crossover voter, I would make that criticism, but I don't think it's a good one here. People overestimate how much policy matters to Sanders' popularity. His crossover appeal is due to not being a democrat and his willingness to criticize the 'elite' or the 'establishment.' Warren's appeal is totally different. While I do personally know people that like her despite their general political conservatism, I do not think she has the same path as Sanders in that way

which is another reason it makes sense to me that she's doing this for attention, actually. The alternative has no upside for her, but this does

Im confused...CNN asked Sanders about restoring felon voting rights and it seems Booker response to Sanders is Playoffs!?!?!? He wants to talk about playoffs!?!?

I mean I believe Booker has walked the walk more on concrete actions for restoration but I think they both want to reduce mass incarcerations. What was peoples reaction?

Not to nitpick, but did she try to suggest Fox News is struggling?

Is it no longer the most successful/watched cable channel/news channel?

I mean, it just seems to ring hollow if they're still killing it in the ratings. Especially compared to their competitors like CNN and MSNBC.
