bourne and wick are different. wick movies are pretty much 100% about the choreography. i hated the fight scenes in bourne- they invented the shaking camera style to simulate the confusion of combat, but it wasn't fun. bourne has a lot of government conspiracy stuff going on and cool chase scenes, but wick lives more in a gangster and comic book world with more gun fights

i liked john wick 1 a lot because the action was simultaneously over the top while also being somewhat grounded and believable

i wasn't as much of a fan of wick 2 because there were more situations where jobbers with guns would just run up to him and get stabbed in unbelievable, albeit artistically impressive, ways

you 100% should watch john wick, and if you like it you should see the second as well. i'm going to get around to 3 sometime

John Wick is handily one of the finest sons of the action genre in this era of film. The first movie is just A+ in every aspect.

Chapter 2 has much weaker choreography, which is unfortunate considering how tops it was in the first, but it has way more fun with its setting, scenarios and how ridiculous the world of John Wick really is. Depending on what you value in the first movie, I'd actually totally respect the opinion that the second is better, though I personally prefer the first.

Hyped beyond words for 3. I seriously can't wait!

the beginning of John Wick 3 is top class entertainment. The rest of the movie couldn't quite keep pace with that, but when you reach the pinnacle of action fighting, there's only one way to go. With that being said, still a great movie. What a strange universe this movie is set in.

My only complaint is that, as referenced by its title, this movie was basically just one big setup for John wick 4, where I'm assuming he's going after the high table.

My theory about the sushi shop, John Wick fanboy assassins: I believe that they actually wanted to lose to John, or, they wanted to have a true, honest fight with him, but did not want to kill him. I know, this contradicts what the teacher says, that he'd want nothing more than to kill his most admired assassin, but they all had opportunities early on in the fight, literally getting their knives up to his throat, but not following through. Maybe it was just taunting, or wanting to extend the fight, but it just seemed like in the end they wanted him to win.

Just got back. I loved it so much omg, this series and Mad Max have been utterly in a league of their own for action movies in this century. Absolutely can't wait for 4, the set up is INSANE.

Agreed that it kind of unfortunately peaked in the first act, but John Wick 2's ending set up an unbelievably hype scenario and the first 30 minutes here lived up to it absolutely brilliantly.

Do I have to see the first two to see this one? My brother wants to go see it with me but I haven't seen the first two yet and I'm in the middle of moving so my time is a bit limited! I'm going to watch the others eventually but I dunno exactly when.

Most of the story will make no sense, but you can definitely still enjoy the action without it.
