A wired first-party Nintendo controller can't be that much, can it? Or do they not even make first-party wired controllers? And wait, can a wired controller be used when the thing isn't docked?

Finished season 3 of JoJo's bizarre. It was good overall

Joseph didn't do anything except save the invisible baby and the baby didn't do anything either. He should have used his stand to find Kira. Koichi's 3rd stand didn't seem to have as much versatility as his previous stands. Okayasu's dad was never cured. They tried to make it funny in the very end but in the beginning his condition was very sad. Josuke never tried to heal him. Jotaro should be able to freeze time for more than a few seconds. Dios could do it for 10 after only a few months of training and having the Joestar blood in him. Jotaro had 10 years to train. And the episode with alien in the tower. If the alien could shapeshift couldn't he be the one to be left in the tower and then just shape shift to his normal body after leaving it?

Just bought 3 houses, downloading it now. Not sure which house I wanna go with. I know I need a lesbian romance option but I've heard I can recruit people from other houses. IIRC one of the houses doesn't have a lesbian option by default. I also know what happens for a fair bit of black lions story so I'd kinda rather do a different house. I'll probably go golden deer cause his teams idea of being hungry and lazy resonate with me.

Who knew those wired Switch controllers were so damn fragile?

I dropped it from like 10 inches off the ground and now the left stick's drifting already.

I just bought the damn thing this Monday. Aren't these things supposed to undergo crash and fall resistance tests?

That all sucks. Generally 3rd party stuff is trash but the wired controllers officially endorsed by nintendo seemed like they might not be so bad. I almost went with one myself but convinced myself the wireless pro controller would be better. So far it's been nice although it kinda hurts my fingers if I play all day long for multiple days in a row (particularly with the trigger buttons).

They don't and yeah I'm pretty sure it has to be docked to use.

The only controllers Nintendo themselves make is the Pro controller and the Joy-cons. And the Pro controller costs like $70.

And yeah, you can only use wired controllers when you're docked.

At the time I bought it at gamestop, the wired controllers dropped in price. Dunno if it was a sale or if that's the new price.

Yo...Vinland Saga is like, really fuckin good. This latest episode was so well written. I can't believe that much character development happened in just 22 minutes from someone that said like 10 words in the whole episode. The show was good up to this point but this is the kind of episode you see in masterpieces. It did an amazing job of show, don't tell while mixing it with a powerful short story and then the use of the music and fading into the credits at the end. Man. Single best episode of anything I've seen for a while.

Also I've been getting further into 3 houses slowly. I feel like I've lucked out on a lot of my growths. I feel like everyone gets speed and dex every level. Not sure if I mentioned it but I did decide to go golden deer. Really flip flopped a lot right up to the decision but decided I'd just put in some effort to recruit the 2 bisexual girls which has been going decently so far.

I'm really enjoying the mix of monastery, teaching, battles, and story so far.

i wonder if arise is going to be like that, and how it's going to work since you can't block the ability to record on xbox.

Wasn't there like a time rewind mechanic in the game?

Is it like a limited amount of uses per battle or can you use it to rewind time before levelups to get the growths you want?

It's not unlimited. It starts at like 3 times per battle and the uses per battle supposedly goes up throughout the story. However, I'd be willing to bet the growths are tied to a separate seed that is saved. They've done that with a few things to stop people from cheesing things quite as much.

I've also been trying to avoid the rewind if at all possible. The fights are still pretty easy (Byleth could solo everything without taking damage at this point) but supposedly the difficulty amps a lot later.

It's kind of annoying that you can't see the master classes at the start since you will probably want to teach your students with a master class in mind. For instance brawling on a female character is basically pointless. On the other hand, I guess master classes really might not be THAT much better than advanced.

I've currently got the white haired mage girl headed for being a mortal savant and I feel as though she will be godlike as that with her unique magic slash that already does ass loads of damage. I really enjoy a lot of the systems so far. It is also kind of annoying how only certain classes can use magic but all classes can use all weapons.

Got my controller replaced at the store.

I chose a Zelda themed one this time, and I also opted for the in-store warranty for an extra $5, since apparently the manufacturer's warranty for the controller only works if I send it to Australia, where the company is based.

Usually I don't bother with those, but given the propensity for these things to break, I decided to have a little insurance.

I still remember going to gamestop to buy a wired 360 controller for use on my pc. The dude tried to sell me some knockoff gamestop controller and said it was just as good. This was after he tried to convince me that wired 360 controllers didn't exist. Had to end up buying one online, since they didn't have any wired ones.

I don't like the 360 controller, but I frequently wind up using the wired one while playing games on Steam. Not sure if it's a pure wired one or a wire-connected wireless one because I misplaced it at the moment.

I still think the wired 360 controller is the best controller on the market. Current gen controllers are all pretty damn close and actually have pros and cons when compared with it. My only real complaint about the 360 controller is that the thumbsticks wear out a bit faster than I'd like.

Still chugging through 3 houses. It was kinda funny, I hit level 20 pretty early on with Byleth and was just waiting for an advanced seal forever it felt like. I FINALLY get one from a paralogue and then...I don't actually meet the reqs for any of the advanced classes. I made the mistake of using axes but playing as a thief instead of merc so I didn't have any axe bonus.

I'm still a little unsure on romance options. The 2 lesbian (bi?) students that are house independent just aren't that interesting for me. Dorothea is ok and I still don't know too much about her but mercedes is fucking boring and I don't like her voice. On the other hand claude is just so enjoyable as a character. Really, a lot of the female cast are pretty unlikeable IMO whereas a lot of the guys ended up being a lot more likeable than I expected. I actually might end up going for claude. Wonder if it'll effect the story like romancing certain other important characters.

I find it kind of funny how my second strongest unit is sylvanis even though I wasn't gonna use him. I wanted to deploy him on just one fight so he could fight his brother but he ended up getting like 10 amazing level ups and has 20 defense at level 20 with other good stats so somehow he ended up as my strongest outside of Byleth by complete accident. At least he has so far ended up being an enjoyable character.

The PS controller has always been my favorite controller. The only time I actually don't like a controller is when it's just a terrible controller, like the N64 controller.

I have a wired 360 controller that I use for Steam, but originally got for my first 360, so ... twelve or thirteen years later, still going strong. It's honestly a pretty good design, even if it really just a souped-up Dreamcast controller, deep down. (Then again, the Dreamcast controller is one of my favorites.)

The Dual Shock series are all so similar to each other that it bugs me that Sony charges so much for the most recent models.

And ... I am going to try and limit what I say about Three Houses to avoid dropping spoilers, but I agree that Claude is awesome. I'm watching my wife play that route in between my sessions with Dimitri and the Blue Lions. I'm in the second half of the game, absolutely loving it.

People really don't like Mercedes on Game FAQs, but she's easily the best healer in the game. And, if you put Sylvain on a horse, he's god-tier. Dude solo'd the Flame Emperor. Then again, there are a lot of good characters in the Blue Lions. On that same map, Felix took down the Death Knight all by himself. ... He'll be a fine Mortal Savant.

Still deciding on a pairing option for my (male) Byleth. There are too many good ones in this game.

I use a wired Xbox 360 controller for my Steam games as well, I played so much of the Xbox 360 in the last generation (I had a PS3 but for me, Xbox 360 is one of the best consoles ever made, Xbox Live probably had a lot to do with that). I prefer the Xbox 360 controller to the Xbox One pad, the latter is a bit too big for my liking. The only criticism I would give the Xbox 360 controller is that the analog sticks wear out too easily as a previous poster said, but apart from that, it's pretty much my favourite ever controller.

I mean, mercedes is an excellent unit. Her special where she heals herself whenever she heals an ally is amazing, I just don't like her as wife material. Currently Marianne is my best healer. Her mag stat is just absurd so she can 1 shot most units with nosferatu to full heal herself or facetank an army while still having amazing healing. She has solid defensive stats too. Her only big issue is low speed. I've already got her spear to C+ so I just need riding to go up a few levels and then level 30 to make her a holy knight. Currently her frozen lance attack is my hardest hitting move at roughly 38-40 damage depending on the enemy.

My Byleth is surprisingly squishy but super fast and super damaging. She's crit for over 100 a few times now.

Sylvain is still godlike for me. I was actually slightly wrong, he had 23 defense at level 20 and got another defense going to 21. He just doesn't take physical damage and his res isn't awful or anything. Got him as an armor knight for now to up his heavy armor so he can be a great knight down the line.

Also pro tip for future playthroughs but you can recruit sylvain basically for free. I don't even know what stats he likes cause I was able to recruit him the first time I tried in like chapter 2. I assume they did that since he can wield a relic and is related to an early storyline.

It has finally happened. After hours of Lysithea being a trash merc then thief then swordmaster (which was actually ok), she has become a mortal savant and is unstoppable. She can do insane magic or physical damage and has like 40 crit and good evasion and nosferatu to heal herself to full in one hit. It was worth all the stat up items I fed into her.

I believe I'm about to the end of part 1 but I gotta go to the doctor in the morning so I have to somehow manage to sleep while my mind is busy thinking about the game. I managed to recruit almost all the students. I got all the female students and just missing like 4 of the guys. I only use like half my units anyway.

This is gonna be one of those nights where I lay in bed for hours before falling asleep I'm guessing.

This has been a great year for anime.

We got the second half of AoT S3, Mob Psycho S2, Promised Neverland, Dr. Stone and probably something else I'm forgetting.

Also I know it was part 5 of JoJo that aired this year but I only saw part 4 this year so it feels like it just came out. By the way if you have always wanted to get into JoJo but you've tried it and quit or not had the motivation to get started on it, I highly recommend just starting on the fourth part. You won't be missing much at all from previous seasons except knowing who is related to who and knowing a character or two survive from previous seasons. But it's seriously the very best season of Jojo and is a thrill ride.

I've honestly felt like it's been kind of a crap year until this season but this season is pretty good.

Also ugh. I couldn't get to sleep all the way until 7:30 am. I got a nice 2 and a half hours of sleep which destroys my digestion and ugh, the last 3 hours have been awful. Not sure if I should go back to sleep now cause I'm so tired or if I should stay up a few more hours to try and fix my sleep schedule.

Watched the Danmachi movie and Zoku Owarimonogatari. Didn't find either amazing, but both were worth watching. Still mainly rewatching Stargate sg-1, but I want to clean up my anime list and knock some things off the planned and watching sections.

So I'm at the point of no return for Ys VIII and was feeling a bit tired of the endgame grind.

I decided to pop in Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and play like the prologue or early first chapter, like the first 1 or 2 hours basically, just to get a taste of what's next and to mix things up.

Bad idea.

I am now hooked on the game and I'm 6 hours in. :P

I've always had this annoying habit of stopping a game JUST before the end or final boss and never actually completing the game.

Because of that I promised myself I would finish each and every game I bought for my Switch, but it looks like I already failed that with Mario Odyssey. I mean I technically did finish the main story, it's all the post game stuff, which apparently accounts for 30% of the game, that I haven't done.

I never beat a single game on my Wii. Always feel bad about it. I wanted to finish Xenoblade, but I unfortunately tried to play it on my pc. Why unfortunately? Well, despite my pc not being able to run it as anything other than a slideshow, it was able to display the game in higher resolution and it looked so damn much better. Wii games look really shitty unfortunately. Maybe I'll build a better pc one of these days and actually be able to finish the game.

I'm a big fan of the other Xenoblade games, so I was already halfway invested in this game from the start.

The only thing I'm worried about is the gachapon system they have for Blades.

I've read that it's better to build your characters to fill a single role rather than give them different blades and have them be multiclassed/hybrids.

And knowing my luck, I'll probably end up with tank blades for my healer characters or something.

For the entirety of the main game you can build your characters however you want. The only time it really matters is the DLC arena thing which is actually super damn hard in later fights. It's pretty easy to swap blades around later on though so you don't need to be too worried about who has what. I will say that Corvin is OP as hell to the point you may wanna consider not using him for the main game. The DLC arena exclusive characters (mostly cameo's) are also busted OP but kinda needed for the later DLC arena stuff. You can even replace chain attack with overdrive if you have one of the characters which is IMO way more fun.

IIRC you can farm them late game. I'll check and edit. I pretty much awakened everyone on rex cause he had the best values so a higher chance of rare blades and then just transferred some to other people. You can also farm blades so eventually you can get everyone if you are patient. I was still missing a few of the rarer ones after opening hundreds. Theres also a few exclusive to new game+.

Ok just checked, you can get an overdrive protocol (the item needed to switch one) every time you max out a 4 crown common blade and release it. Late game once your mercs are maxed out you can do this relatively quickly. Theres also 3 you can find, some you get for having the DLC, and you get 1 each for completing a main characters affinity chart.

So late game you could probably farm about 4 in 2 hours. You won't just want to switch blades back and forth all the time but if you decide you don't like where one is, it's not a big deal to farm some up later. I also think you may be able to get some for completing DLC arena missions but I'm not sure. I just know I switched around quite a few and never ran out.

So basically the rarity of these items is only really an early-mid game problem. Maybe do some of your early awakenings spread out so everyone gets 3 rares.

Xenoblade X was definitely the strangest of them. In some ways it was better than the others but in other ways it was way worse. Like, the villains were just awfully written and silly which did not mix well with an otherwise serious philosophical story. The world was amazing but the music was way worse overall (still had a few good tracks). Possibly the best combat but the worst balancing. Also has the worst side quest in video game history for me (the teddy bomber side quest).

Still totally worth a playthrough though and I maintain that overdrive is way more fun than chain attack. It amps up the pace of the combat instead of grinding it to a complete halt.

As much as I loved Xeno X, the game could really use a complete overhaul for QoL features. Favorite open world game, but if they annouced a switch port, i wouldnt touch it, unless it was heavily upgraded

I guess the music is subjective but I think what really burned me was listening to the first 15-30 seconds of the flying song like 1000000000 times. It plays from the beginning every time you fly no matter where you are and a certain point all of your travel will consist of flying for like 20 seconds, landing to kill something or look around, and then flying again. It gets so old. I even think the song is fine. I also was not a fan of the night time song in the city. The overdrive song is awesome though. Really enhanced the feeling of using overdrive as well.

When I compare that to xenoblade 1 and 2 full soundtracks, every single song is awesome. Each game has like 2+ hours of great soundtrack that sounds just like what I want an adventure to sound like mixed with some hype boss and battle themes. So it's not that I hate X's soundtrack, just that I think 1 and 2 had god tier soundtracks.

Binged Cannon Busters today and now I'm sad because I'm all out of Cannon Busters.

Granted, I'm not sure that it qualifies as anime, although it has the look and a lot of the conventions.

Okay
Brushed up on all of the anime I wanted to see from last season
Definite highlights were... Attack on Titan S2+3 (I hadn't seen any AoT since the first season so I caught up all at once, was really good watching)
JoJos Bizarre Adventure Golden Wind was also a good watch, not quite as good as Diamond is unbreakable imo but still very good.
Dororo- was a nice surprise, it kept me invested until the end and had a good payoff.
S3 of Bungo stray dogs was nice too, the series has been consistently good/great so far for me which is always nice.
And last but certainly not least is Shield Hero, I had heard that it was good but gosh, it was really damn good, I am not an isekai fan since it's become quite overused now but the series really bucks the trend for them, I very much hope to see a S2 from it in the future.
