I can make Mondays, and I don't mind waiting.

All right, if everyone wants to confirm they're good for Mondays, I think I can move my normal Monday thing to another day, just give me some form of official confirmation, and Han let me know when you could start it, we'll kick it off that week.

How do you plan to actually play? Over chat? Over voice? Webcams? Would there be some kind of gameboard like in roll 20 or just imagining what's happening?

I was thinking of using Discord for voice chatting it. I'm going to look at Roll 20 because I do plan to have a lot of graphical components to the campaign.

It will for sure use Discord as the voice chat mechanism. I'm going to talk to another DM I know about using Roll20 to host, but I might use a different screenshare program. I do have a lot of graphical components. I'd likely host the character sheets as shared documents if you want that, or the character sheets can be printed and kept physically.

Aight. Discord ain't bad. Not the most familiar with this tabletop or system, or, any online tabletop system in general, but I'll look into it a bit.

I've run with this system for a while now, and I've discovered that the die system has to be changed slightly to work well, by the way. Otherwise it involves rolling way too many dice at a time.

Yeah, so I guess I should talk about character creation now. The general idea is that, since this is a new system for everyone in the party, either I get together with you in a voice chat or on the Board 8 Discord as a group or individuals to run through how this works.

Because I've run this system for a while now, I've learned that the core rules needed a little bit of tweaking to make it an enjoyable experience (ie: I've had to change how dice are rolled in this). But the general rules of character creation remain unchanged, so if you want to take a look ahead of time, that's great. If you want to take a look at the core rulebook (at the link I posted earlier in the thread), keep that in mind. The general dice rolls for skill usages has been changed. In all honesty, it actually doesn't affect the mechanics of combat except to make it run faster and to adjust the percentage of success ever so slightly (early combat was dragging waaaaay too long between low level entities).

For my purposes, you won't be able to take most superpowers ahead of time. Imagine that your character is about to go through their secret origin in the DC Universe (assuming you want powers); everyone is going to be given character-specific missions that will result in developing abilities. So, while you can spend for certain minor abilities, if you want to be a guy who shoots fire out of his hands, that's going to be something you earn in the campaign since Gotham City starts pretty low-leveled.

Otherwise, I'm open to most anything. You'll see that there are Advantages and Disadvantages you can take as a character in the core book, and I definitely recommend taking some of both; they make the roleplay a lot more fun, especially if you choose to take Allies or Contacts or Enemies. Having a pre-established relationship with a character has proven to be pretty awesome in my previous runthrough of this topic.

You're all going to be in Gotham for the duration of the campaign, but that doesn't mean you have to be a Gotham-centric character. There are only two outlawed power sets in the campaign: Magic and Reality Manipulation. You can really go nuts on what kind of character you're striving to create. But do keep in mind that this character is a form of superhero or vigilante or antihero.

My last campaign had some fantastic characters, so let me give you an example from that run. One of my players wanted to create an archaeologist character with the power to resurrect himself (his superhero moniker was The Archaeologist). He also wanted to have an archenemy in Gotham. So he picked the Penguin on my recommendation, and I crafted a story where he was hired by Penguin to excavate a tomb, discovering a priceless massive diamond. The Archaeologist realized it belonged in a museum, and he went against his contract with the Penguin. So whenever the two ran into each other, it often became violent (even though the rest of the party wanted to try and reason with Cobblepot). He also had a mini-dungeon where he gained his resurrection abilities about 10% of the way into the campaign, and this story ended up providing him a new Sworn Enemy disadvantage as well as his ability. So I try to keep things narratively interesting for you guys going forward.

TL;DR - Come up with a comic book-style character you want to play as, and I will be happy to sit down with you when you want to stat your character. Also, throw a little bit of DC Comics flavor into the character background if you want it to play into the campaign itself.

So the first Monday of June would work.

Otherwise, if we wanted to try to make Fridays/Saturdays work, I could try to swing that. Usually, every other Saturday is irl dnd day, although weve been on a hiatus. So if people really dont want to wait a month (I know I dont), then a Friday/Saturday would be the winner. At least, temporarily? Idk
