Watching these TV shows from the 2000s and prior, you really notice a lot of homophobia...

Yeah, quite a bit of tv and film from the past is full of casual racism, sexism, xenophobia, and homophobia. It can make some scenes jarring and even cringey at times

This is a 2004 episode and they are playing "It's Raining Men" at a gay character's party. Can it be any more cliche?

Why not though ? Why people nowadays are so obsessed with rejecting gay culture and enforcing the thought that 'gay people are the same boring commoners as straight people, nothing special about them'.
I definitely don't see it as homophobia,

Well, before this scene, the main character didn't want to go to the party because he thought everyone at the party would be gay dudes and he didn't want to be hit on.

You know a show that is mostly forgotten but I always enjoyed (save for season 3)? So Weird. It was Disney's attempt at their own Goosebumps/Are You Afraid of the Dark? It felt like it towed the line between them. Not nearly as corny as Goosebumps, not as scary as AYAotD. It was good.

It's gonna be awesome when every show has a 128 person main cast so they can hit every letter in lgbtq+ and include other kin and whatever else.

You know I was just being dumb but if a show ever does this I would watch it.

Yes, it is

To most people, saying something sucks means its low quality or inferior. Saying someone sucks means they are terrible at something, most likely sports or playing music.

Its such a part of our everyday language that even children are known to use the term without seeming offensive.

But the term originated as gay slur mocking the practice of oral sex between two men. It assumes that the practice is somehow degrading; therefore, people who suck should be ashamed of themselves.

O.E. sucan, from PIE root sug-/suk- of imitative origin. Meaning do fellatio is first recorded 1928. Slang sense of be contemptible first attested 1971 (the underlying notion is of fellatio).

Here is a defense of it -

https://slate.com/human-interest/2006/08/a-defense-of-the-word-sucks.html

Look, I don't give a shit what people say. But there is a day that's going to come where enough people will care and free speech will be gone

Words have never been just words. What we're experiencing now are the normal generational differences between modern times and our slowly aging perspectives with a significant boost in awareness (for better or worse) thanks to social media. Of course, the past few decades got a lesser, but still significant bump in awareness compared to even earlier generations thanks to the TV's marker penetration. So even social media is still just another, albeit more potent, version of the same cause and effect.

Not quite. A generation is 20-25 years in length roughly. What we're seeing now are massive shifts in select attitudes in under 5 years. It's definitely not natural.
