lets be honest, borderlands 1 is just plain...more fun. it's simpler, which is a very good thing when it comes to games like this. the environments are better designed, guns are somehow...better?

only thing bl2 has is tina.

They both had good and bad points. Overall, I prefer to replay the original game, but 2 / PS had more unique weapons (gun that shoots swords that splits into more swords that then explode vs a gun that shoots more) and character abilities were more interesting in the later games. All three had great locations and characters.

I do miss having access to the S&S Support Machine gun as backup in the later games though, I had one on my Roland that had like 200+ in the clip, perfect for dealing with mobs. Bandit and Scav weren't nearly as good when I tried them.

There are some things I like that they introduced with BL2, for example the Badass levels are cool. I also liked they put in a lot more voices, the VA in the games is great. Overall though, I agree the first is better in the things that count more to me. The shooting feels better, I like the gun selection more, I like all the classes. I know a lot of people liked it but I never cared for the inventory in 2, it only shows a few items at a time, made it harder to see all the stuff I had. Maybe it was prettier than the list style from the first game, but I preferred being able to see more items at once.

For some things 1 is definitely greater than 2. 2 has horrible drop rates, enemies are way more damage spongey as well. 1 has better storage, though it's still shit. Really hope the third one doesn't have painfully tiny storage again.

Both are great. I like the DLC better in 2 for sure.

I liked both sirens, but...honestly the first siren was the best for me.

I liked Mord over Zero honestly....he was awesome and I loved his hawk.

Never was a massive Brick fan, so Gunzerker all the way there (he was quite fun/good in 2).

Never been a fan of the soldiers, least favorite to play in fact so doesn't matter to me.

Gun selection was fine in both for me, story was good in both for me (not that I care that much).

Over all I played more of 2 then 1.....but they are both freaking great, and well, 1 came out first, so at the time of release I'd say 1 was waaaay better (being brand new/fresh and nothing like it).

Still enjoyed the heck out of 2 even when it released.

Pre-sequel is almost impossible for me to enjoy. I don't like any of the classes at all. I hate the stupid moon gravity stuff, shrug....still have not finished it.

lmao at guns being better, I can play BL1 for 2 hours and see nearly every non-unique gun model.

The only thing 1 does better is having very little super obnoxious characters and a better tone, I would pay money for a DLC to remove Tiny Tina from 2.

The classes in 2 are better(except for Zero but Lilith i sass to so they cancel out) and there's more of them, they actually have backstories too.

I liked Borderlands DLC better than the sequels but the main game of Borderlands 2 is certainly better than the first. I couldn't even bring myself to finish the first.

2 has horrible drop rates,

2 has worse legendary drop rates for world drops, but almost every legendary has a specific enemy that it has a reasonable chance to drop from. That means it's less likely to stumble across a variety of legendaries while playing normally, but it does make targeted farming possible, which I kind of preferred given how build-defining legendaries can be. I can understand preferring 1's system, though.

Even with being able to farm for specific drops, the drop rates are still atrocious. I fought the mini boss that drops infinities tons of times and it never dropped one. The last time I replayed bl2, I used cheat engine to boost the drop rates. I forget how low they were for legendaries and pearls, but it's just bad. I think I killed bunker over 200 times on my zero and still hadn't had it drop all of it's legendaries.

It was great that they gave us a way to specifically farm for what we wanted, but they made the drop rates so low that it felt moot.

To be fair, Infinity's drop rate from that boss is only slightly higher than its world drop rate. It was just an exceedingly rare drop all around.

I wouldn't even agree that BL1 is better than the Pre-Sequel, let alone BL2.

It was fun in its time, but playing the other games and then going back I was struck by just how overall dull it ultimately was.

I'm just hoping BL3 isn't completely gutted by loot boxes and other microtransactions. The series is ripe for exploitation, and Gearbox hasn't exactly been above such shenanigans lately. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see the Golden Chest thingy make a return, only with better drops, keys available for sale, and reduced drops everywhere else to make it more appealing.

What did you like more about it compared to the others? Personally I wasn't sure if I was just burnt out on the Borderlands style of gameplay or if the "flying" aspect via the Oz Kits simply became a nuisance for me. I was looking forward to a melee or elemental Athena build but just couldn't get myself to keep playing after finishing it on Normal.

they did add it to b1 remaster, but it's just the same as it works in 2 and tps, though, so i doubt they're going to sell keys for money and reduce drops everywhere else, because they really could have just added it to the remaster and see how people react to it

I liked the floaty jumps when I got used to them. brought the more entertaining story that 2 had over 1, and I liked the characters more than 2. gaige and krieg aside. 2's base characters where the one thing I disliked about 2. also enjoyed that the player characters had way more speaking lines like making comments about quests or even talking to quest givers. like I specifically recall the baroness having to pretend to be someone else when talking the that one guy who shes related to. forget his name.

I doubt they'd add monetization to a remaster just to test the waters. The game industry can be pretty clueless sometimes, but they usually know better than to mess around with public opinion in a free remaster that they're releasing to build hype for an upcoming game. If they do decide to monetize it, I'd only expect it to show up for the first time in 3.

there is a 02 tank or whatever you can get early on that makes it almost never a problem. think it makes enemies drop more air tanks or something its been awhile so I don't recall. but its the only one i'd ever use on any of my playthroughs.

So, this thread inspired me to download the enhanced version and play BL1 again (since it's been awhile).

The graphics are much better which is nice, but......

Man the difficulty was low in the first game lol. I guess we all played BL1 enough that we didn't notice the difference when we played 2 and the pre-sequel, but the game starts of seriously easy lol. I was running around just chopping everythign to death with mords melee weapon pretty much, and just used a shotgun on bosses. Upgraded his bird and had a sniper rifle for combos early on (sniper rifle shot on non-moving target = instant dead, then bird on next one, 2 of the enemies are instantly out.

I know it'll get harder, but yeah, I think the difficulty might be a problem for the first run through of BL1 after playing the game so much.
