As for if Virgilia is evil, well, as Beatrice's piece she is sometimes put into that role, I guess. I don't really understand how that works with the rule about pieces having to act true to themselves. The magic layer was full of inconsistencies in that respect. At least, the Virgilia that's in the top level has no reason to be evil.

Interesting way to look at it. But of course, we just said that you can only make a piece act a way they'd usually act. Also, was that really a piece-Vrigilia in the "golden land" at the end of episode 3?

I thought pieces are on the game board. But yes, technically, Ange was referred to as a "piece" even though she spent all her time in the teaparty world.

honestly i'm more driven to play more even though i'm not liking this chapter, because i want to get back to the good parts (assuming they will come) and maybe see what all this is building up to

and also this chapter is annoying and i don't like it but it's not boring like episode 4 or shannon/george scenes were

I wish Dlanor didn't have this annoying caps gimmick though. Yes, I know what it's doing, japanese sentences are ending in katakana, but idk, without being fluent in japanese I can't say if it's as distracting there.

That said, this mystery is actually intriguing.

Assuming the game isn't blatantly lying to me about stuff, most people do have alibis when the bodies disappear, don't they? Everyone kinda stuck together...

The killings could be done by anyone though since they were late at night.

But Natsuhi, even if she's the killer, couldn't have moved those bodies, could she? I'm trying to think when she joined the group... I guess she was alone in her room when they came to report the bodies to her, she could've hid them and snuck back to her room. Hm.

erika is actually going over everyone's alibi's in depth at the time the letter was delivered

i really am getting my corrupted wish

of course, they're making even this letter mystery as impossible as possible

even using the red text to keep telling us that no one in the mansion placed the letter or knocked, basically

basically, the game has not yet ever solved one of it's impossible mysteries

the moment it does so, i'll be able to have a real indicator of if this game's answers will all be unpredictable bullshit or if they'll be satisfying

but it hasn't happened yet

except for the kinzo is dead twist, which leans towards "unpredictable bullshit"

man, the red text is really solving the whole mystery for us

i'd like it if we could solve things through real investigation, but it's mostly just the angel people red texting us (plus lambda)

also why are the angel people usign red text against erika? is it just to help her solve? who is authorizing that? they are supporting lambda now...

that said, geez, what a lateral thinking puzzle

at this point we are at

"no one in the mansion had anything to do with the letter" "the people outside the mansion never entered the mansion and didn't influence anything in the mansion in any way"

which rules out... everyonnnne....

And now ruled out that it was anything other than a physical knock on the door, while saying no one in the mansion did it, and no one outside the mansion did it

well that sure is something

i hope we get an answer here isntead of just moving on and leaving another unsolved mystery, but my hopes aren;t high

has someone knocking on the door from inside being ruled out? i know red told us no one in the mansion placed the letter, but maybe someone in the dining room could knock? idk

Virgilia confirms that all 5 corpses are dead.

Apparently the magic-world-Virgilia from the "Golden Land" with coma-Beato is here, so she went from being "outside the game board" to on the game board. We just talked about if she's a piece or not but this is the Virgilia from non-piece-land so she shouldn't be one? Not in the sense of "a character that is just used for the story of the gamemaster".

It's weird though that Virgilia just confirms all 5 are dead when that was set up as a potential option

Then again, Virgilia is... uh. Not on our side? But Battler is on Beatrice's side this chapter for whatever reason so idk

Gaap (or someone's inner thoughts) are curious why Virgilia used the red, since the whole point of hiding the bodies was so that you couldn't be certain if they died or not.

This is definitely a key point which will make sense later. Pretty interesting.

Beatrice says that her sole purpose now is to help Natsuhi... According to Beatrice, Natsuhi will be wrongly accused of these murders...

So is Natsuhi truly being blackmailed by a man on the phone? Or is that all a lie in her head and she really is the killer? And if so, I wonder if this will lead to something weird where these piece-witches have to admit it...?

So piece-Beatrice's PoV here is that she will protect Natsuhi from accusations, but piece-Beatrice is claiming that she committed these murders? Or not? Because man, it wasn't great of you to "commit murders" that will make your master seem guilty.

Natsuhi's inner monologue after leaving the parlor is that she "purposefully" acted annoyed and threw the cup on the ground, so that she'd have a reason to leave and go hide in the closet alone

If this is all fake and she really is the killer, I love the justification here. Because it means Natsuhi was just a shit liar and really did lose her cool, but she justifies it with "oh i just smashed that cup on purpose, i was totally calm hahahaha yeah"

I like Natsuhi's little dilemma of whether to lock the door to the guest room or not

Deciding it's actually better to NOT lock it, since locking it could attract attention

Again, I wonder if this point will be relevant later

Natsuhi thinks Shannon is the only person she's told she likes Autumn

Interesting

Well, Shannon is the matermind, isn't she? Hehe

But... more likely this is some sort of red herring and/or just irrelevant in the grand scheme of things...

Since the mystery man can't exist at all anyway and there's something off about the whole thing more than just how he'd know she likes Autumn

I won't bother trying to figure it out since I don't know the rules

Natsuhi's logic has one flaw - Unless Shannon was meant to keep her love of Autumn a secret, Shannon could easily have told anyone else and it could become common knowledge.

Hideyoshi accidentaly locks the door

Because he thought it was locked

But... it wasn't.

This is suspicious. Why did Hideyoshi think it was locked?

And so Natsuhi hides in a closet as Hideyoshi apparently struggled to his death

Because the culprit apparently got into the room despite the chain being there, killed Hideyoshi, and then got out while Eva was calling for help

Uh

Honestly it's still more likely that this is all a setup for Natsuhi being the killer and these scenes being fake because it's how she remains in denial about what she did

Only one death though. There has to be a second. But Eva gathered everyone here...?

I'mma lol if they open the closet and find Natsuhi

Surely it won't be that straightforward haha

I like how almost every other time, we eventually search the room to be sure it's a closed room and no one is hiding

But this time there actually is someone hiding and we haven't searched yet

Will we...?

Of course, they'd never actually expect the killer to hide in the closet anyway, haha. So why bother checking.

it's interesting, when you have the coma-Beato and the narrative makes you basically care about her and take her side,

Beatrice's super creepy evil faces suddenly become sort of endearing, as if you miss them. Even though there's nothing to miss since they never went away since coma-Beato has always existed alongside this piece-Beatrice.

Agian, very confused, so is Virgilia truly a good witch? lol. I am cool with her when she's like this, but she still sucked in chapter 4, sorry.

But Virgilia says... "I have guided him through Purgatory and brought him to you at its peak. ...And you are Beatrice. You must choose whether to take his hand and rise up to heaven or grab him and fall into hell."

Is this about Battler...?

Just what makes Battler so special...? What is Beatrice's true purpose?

Apparently we've broken all semblances of reality and jumped 10 hours ahead to go to a magical court battle where Erika and all the humans get magically teleported. Lambda and Bern are here, piece-Beatrice is here, but magic-world-Battler is here. (Is human-piece-Battler here...? lol)

This makes absolutely no sense but whatever.

I was actually expecting the very first tea party to be something like this

Quite frankly I'd probably be a little better off if I'd ever actually read a true mystery novel at some point in my life

I feel like I may have when I was like, 10 or something, but not anytime in my adult life. I'm relatively well aware of how they work though. Also I've watched the Agatha Christie Doctor Who episode which parodies the entire mystery novel format and I'm pretty sure that tells you all you need to know about how those books work.
