My girlfriend is trying to play Chain of Memories again after putting it down for about a month, and she's still frustrated that she can't beat the last Larxene fight. She doesn't want to quit, and I don't blame her, but I'm afraid it'll make her not want to play the others if this keeps up.

Also, Emma continues to be mysterious.

I'm 99% sure you missed the "The Lost Traveler" Hidden Quest featuring Ricky and Anton (more Sky references~)

On Day 2 you have to head back to the Fort and you'll find Anton at the entrance to the area. Quest is to escort him back to Bareahard (he doesn't appear in battle or anything but does get a guest portrait on the field.)

Other than wandering over there and finding him, I think the only hint this quest is a thing is that Ricky can be found near the train station at Bareahard and talking to him has him make a comment to the effect that Anton headed in the direction of the Canyon Road and hasn't come back or something. I've assumed it has to be done before you lose Machias but never confirmed that. You technically have free run of the area with just Rean/Fie/Emma until Jusis rejoins, at which point you're stuck in the sewers.

If you want to do well on the midterms it might be worth it to savescum to see all the events because they all have useful info. You don't need to to be able to choose the right answer, but some of them you'll be reduced to guessing if you haven't seen the event that covers the topic. (Others technically have the info around if you are hyper-sensitive to detail across the game)

Also if you want to do even better on the exam (and get more AP) there's some other stuff you can do: There's 10 mini-events you can do that each end with saying you improved your knowledge in a topic. 6 of them are gained by talking to the right people. 3 Instructors (Thomas, Mary, and Makarov) and 3 Students (Vivi/Linde, Becky/Hugo, and Beryl). The other 4 are finding the right books. They have a shiny "item" glow on them but cna be kinda mean. One is in the library, one is in the Literature Club, one is in the Music Club Room, and the last is laying on a bench in the gym. You can check your journal to see what ones you've done because they all get marked down.

On NG+ with carryover, I like to think Rean/Gaius/Machias/Elliot are just being sarcastic as hell when they say it was a good/close fight... when they absolutely obliterate them with endgame equips taking absolutely no damage. >_>

Also, I love trolling Patrick in the party selection before that fight by intentionally picking teams he'll reject for the team reactions. Fie in particular.

And the Nord Highlands look like something out of a Zelda game, which is heightened by the fact that we're riding horses. The music sounds like something straight out of Chrono Cross, too.

The music is my favorite part of the Nord Highlands. Unfortunately I think the actual area ends up a bit too empty for what the developers were going for, but whatever.

Also I wonder if I'm the only one who likes Patrick. Probably.

At least Cold Steel is good about giving you good quartz in treasure chests and as rewards for quests. It'd be nice if they'd give me some good weapons or armor from time to time, too.

I don't believe weapons ever come from chests. ...I actually don't really think armors do either, with the exception of the semi-ultimate ones at the very end. So you're probably out of luck on that front. The team not in your group does get their equipment upgraded when the field study is over, as you've noticed. So that's something at least.

Cold Steel is good about quartz coming from chests though, yeah. You generally get one of most accessories too.

Also Nord Highlands is a place much improved by Turbo Mode. everything is but nord highlands especially. Cool place though with a nice Sky callback with Zechs.

I know she's been struggling on the gameplay side of late, but what does she think of the story? I actually enjoyed Jerk!Sora!

She likes the story. I don't know if she'd have stuck with it if she didn't. I'll ask her what she thinks overall once she finishes Sora's section.

Well, she just finished Sora's story. She was getting really frustrated by having to beat Marluxia's last two forms back to back, but she powered through it. I keep reassuring her that Riku's section isn't nearly as bad and it's a lot shorter. I just want her to get to KH2 because I feel pretty confident she'll like it.

And I got to the end of my first field exam day in Nord. That certainly escalated quickly.

So after the KH3 Critical mode announcement, I played some KH2 Data Org and Lingering Will again. And I found myself pressing square in the air a lot only to get wrecked. I really got used to having an air guard.
