Something magical about beating a bomb warrior by playing 5 Tess's. Kept getting a wrenchcalibur and shield block out of it, which was enough to stall until I dropped a beastmaster boom which filled the board.

That's basically it, as well as being more consistent because you have tons of magnetic targets and you can often just kill your opponent before they can fully set up their win conditions because even the aggressive decks are a lot slower than they used to be.

I've also been trying out a murloc package with elementals instead of mechs. I found that mechs were too inconsistent and playing pretty bad cards to maybe get a swing turn was not great. The elemental package (the 2/2 which gives you a random elemental, the 2/4 that gets bigger when you play an overload card, and the 3/5 that summons 2 rush 1/1s when you play an overload card). Allows me to play the overload package with more benefit as well as the that 2 mana buff card.

It also let me cut tastyfin because i can generate more minions with those cards to make up for the lack of draw, giving me more tempo while generating resources. I also cut Soul of the Murloc, against warrior it never did anything because of warpath, and I think just playing another minion if possible was often better than using it in other matchups. The 3 mana 2/4 has been pretty good because it's hard for a lot of decks to remove it effectively if I play it on 3.

The theme over at competitiveHS right now seems to be "put batterhead into all of your slower decks that want more board clears".

And yeah, card seems pretty good against token druid; often clears, and lives threatening the next board too. Can turn heals and health boosts into more board clears.

(I opened two of these things, so that's cool with me, and yeah, it basically locks out token druid).

I really hope Secret Paladin never really takes off, because having to watch each secret trigger twice when Rhyssa is there is infuriating. I swear it took longer to put two 2/1 minions on the board than my last three turns combined.

Just had to play against a moron druid who drew keeper, both faceless and zilliax in the top half of his deck. Didn't even have any other mechs, but faceless'd my already buffed Mechanical Whelp. Shit is so fucking dumb.

And then another fucking netdecking moron who drew both whelps, both nine lives, and a fireworks tech in the top half.

I can't buy a couple wins in a row right now. I've played about a dozen games over the last three days, split between Mech Hunter, Mech Paladin, and Bomb Warrior, and have negative two stars to show for it.

I can't seem to get wins with Warlock at the moment; magic carpet zoo just seems to be getting edged out of the meta in standard, and evenlock isn't winning in wild.

Interesting point though: I just saw Proud Defender and Sunreaver Warmage in a wild Jade Druid (I lost). I think it might have only had like...two or three Jade cards and everything else was just hard control and armour gain.

tl;dr, new set is really popular based on number of games being posted to HSReplay. New cards are really popular, being currently used more than the classic set. Also, post-rotation hasn't really revitalized Rhastakan's Rumble.

Not too surprising compared to last rotation because we knew how much power was concentrated in the 2017 sets. Plus they also got rid of the two strongest cards from the entire 2018 card set.

It is surprising and interesting that Rumble is still kind of a dud.

It's definitely surprising the number of Rise of Shadows cards being used.

Outpacing the classic set is like...a thing that basically doesn't happen, and often implies the power level is too high, but Rise of Shadows cards are also mostly specialized enough that they don't fit into every archetype, they're just good in their own archetype.

So I was playing my Maly Rogue and was facing down a huge board with lethal on it vs a Bomb Warrior, so I needed to yolo Togwaggle->Prep->Wondrous Wand for Malygos and one more burn card.

First card Sinister Strike
Second Card Blink Fox
Third Card Bomb (doesn't kill me though)
Real Third Card Malygos

I briefly get really excited, until I realize that Malygos costs 9-mana. So that's a mechanic to keep in mind.

Got a friend request from a Bomb Warrior, he wanted to complain about how I burned two of his bombs because my hand was full and how lucky it was that those were the only two cards that I burned. He conceded while I was at 6 health, so it won me the game. I guess he forgot that my hand was full when he put the bombs in my deck to begin with, that I only had five and three total cards left in my deck when they were burned so the odds weren't even that bad, and that I burned two other cards as well.

Tried out the goblin bomb mech hunter. I don't even have Leeroy. But uhh, yeah, deck seems pretty good so far.

The issue I had with the heavy bomb version of Mech Hunter is that it's seemingly not built to win long games or really ever against a heavy control matchup. I matched up against a Control Warrior, and while that deck is very unfavoured anyway regardless of build, I felt like I was already dead on turn 7 after they outlasted my initial push.

I prefer the late game of the original build, even if the winrate is slightly lower.

I mean, as a counterpoint, I've only played one game against warrior with bomb hunter but I did win. As long as you have goblin bombs lying around, all your magnetic minions basically have charge and deathrattle deal 2 damage. Just awkward to deal with unless they use their removal on pre-magnetic goblin bombs, but that's a really inefficient use of removal.

I hit rank 12 on Asia using only whizbang.

Man are some of these decks really bad. Like the Spellslinger Mage. You basically have to have a perfect hand and rng to even think about winning. IMO you have to have mana cyclone in your opening because you just gas so quickly without it.

The heal druid is also awful. Like the deck list is also probably almost as good as it could be (like all control lists that are deck recipes though it doesn't have Elysiana). But you sometimes can stabilize versus aggro and always lose to control. Nevermind that actually getting healing off can be extremely difficult to do because you actually have to take damage.

But those are two decks I think are bad and it doesn't matter if the lists are optimized or not. But lets not forget that the pirate rogue (which is from last expansions) still has not updated to run Raiding Party, the midrange hunter has not been updated to run Master's Call, and the new zoo deck does not run any real form of minion buff (outside of impferno... which I have actually won a game with). Like these decks are playable, but suffer some pretty heavy limitations compared to other lists.

There are some good lists though. The deathrattle hunter is a deck you can hit legend with if you just copy the list and have the skill to pilot it. The Murloc Shaman is another deck you can probably hit legend with if you just play the copy and paste list. The summon mage, while not a great list, still does the job it has to versus control fairly well just by nature of whats in the deck. There are also two warriors (Like a rush/control hybrid and dragon warrior) and both of them are fine, but obviously lose to any deck running Elysiana.

The other decks include a secret paladin which is just full on aggro and doesn't have enough gas to close out games most of the time. There's a prelate paladin too, which actually can work out pretty well because you can sort of effectively just stall out control if you have the life steal and can avoid silence and you actually have some clears versus faster decks with Pyro and a bunch of spells.

The other rogue deck is a thief rogue, which is pretty good if you want to run Tess AND Tak. Let me tell you, the deck is bad due to just how inconsistent it is, and honestly, I don't think the current version of the deck is as fun as the versions that casinoed out spiders pre rotation.

There is a hand/control type warlock too, which has some decent value minions. However, I do think it lacks Twisting Nether, which is something the deck probably should run. But the deck itself doesn't do anything unfair enough imo.

The other shaman is a muckmorpher shaman where you basically have to highroll the crap out of stuff.

The two priest decks are a revive priest and... another priest? I honestly don't know. Priest is the worst class in the game right now by a pretty large margin imo. So any time I sneak a win with the priest I feel accomplished.

I don't even know what the other druid is, I'm assuming it's Token because that makes the most sense. But I would not put it past Blizzard to have some sort of beast druid.

I didn't craft patches either. (Did craft Lich King though, and Rag and Sylv back in the day).

Bottom line is that I don't really spend dust on archetypes I don't care much about, and face aggro decks are archetypes I don't care much about.

Tempostorm parts ways with Muzzy and Saiyan a week before Worlds.

Apparently they took advantage of Blizzard delaying it 6 months and tried to renegotiate a higher salary multiple times, to which Reynad essentially said, "lol no". Neither of them pulled in streaming numbers, and thus were pretty low on the advertising/sponsor numbers as well.

Sucks. Both my favourite organization and favourite players. I respect their want to capitalize, but with Hearthstone in the position it's in it was clear that was never going to happen. Gotta side with my boy Reynad on this one.

Yeah...from what Reynad is saying, Hearthstone is growing as a playerbase, but interest in Hearthstone pro play is shrinking.

I feel for the pro players, though, in that as you get better at a job, you want your salary to increase, but I've watched a lot of esports where...nope, salary for pro players just has a downward trend.

Crystalportal isnt exactly a keep card, its more of a topdeck Card when you dont have any threats in hand card (plus most Token Druid minions are relatively easy to dump other than Vargoth)

Also, feel like esports is on the downswing lately in all games as its more about just watching fun personalities on twitch ala Ninja but thats another story entirely

Every time I've watched crystalsong portal in token druid it's been pretty meh, TBH. In that the cards it produced were bad and often not worth playing. (It's also really not what you want to do on turn 2 anyway; you want to play a minion or create some minions not add cards to your hand unless you've got exactly coin wispering woods next turn).

You also need to run it in the almost pure spell version of the deck, which is not really the version I want to be running. (I'd rather run Microtech Controller, doomsayer, maybe an eccentric scribe, maybe some dendrologists). Like...Crystalsong Portal only makes sense in the version of the deck running Wrath and Mark of the Loa and almost zero minions.

I like spell version more but its mainly cause I think Wrath is just too damn valuable to ditch and Keeper works great with it and POTW. Loas Not terrible either, buffing a treants won me the mirror match a few times
