Token Druid seems sick but theres a lot of different builds that are all cool. I've been playing a pretty normal midrange version that runs Stelladris and a small package of choose spells (Raptors, wrath, power). There's the heavy treant synergy build, a super aggro build with Magic carpet, and my friend got 12-2 in Brawl with a build that has a light treant package (basically just enough to make Mulchmuncher good). I've also seen versions that run the healing package for the stag and dormant legendary. So many moving parts and I dont know what I want to take into brawliseum yet.

There are some heavy aoe matchups like Shaman and Mage that are a real pain, though.

I've had some pretty good luck with Control Warrior. Ran up against a Token Druid and the poor guy had no chance. Turn 2 Weapons Project, turn 3 Shield Block, kill another minion with weapon, turn 4 Warpath x2 for full board clear, turn 5 Dyn-o-matic full clear, turn 6 Dragonmaw Scorcher full clear, turn 7 Crowd Roaster full clear, Turn 8 Supercollider full clear, Turn 9 he was dead.

Wow, I want to make a shaman deck, of various varieties, but pack RNG really hasn't given me shaman cards.

I don't mean just legendaries either. Zero Sludge Slurpers. Zero Hagatha's Scheme. Zero Muckmorphers. And, from last set, Zero Haunting Visions.

(Two underbelly Anglers, all the commons, and I do have 2x Big Bad Archmage if Muckmorpher into BBA turns out to be good).


The one thing I can always count on, every single expansion, is to open Shaman cards. Do I want to play Shaman? Great, the game gives me most of what I need to do so. Is something like Freeze Shaman being printed? Shit, I'm going to open the entire decklist in my first 20 packs. I don't think there's been an expansion where I didn't open a Shaman legendary, opened Scargil this time around.

Here's the cards I've got for each class this expansion.

I am platinum mad.

I was in arena and i had a decent (but not insane) warlock deck. First game I lose to a priest who had 2 cards in hand and one of them is mind control. I actually could have won still but was 1 mana off of a board clear on another key turn.

second game I lost to a paladin with just insane cards.

third game I beat a hunter (I went first).

While I was queueing for my fourth game I get a "you disconnected from the server message" and my game reloads and I check and nothing happens. So I'm able to re-queue and find a match. It's against a Shaman who has an insane deck. Like multiple 4 mana 7/7s, fire elemental, that new rager (which he used on the 7/7, etc. Just like a very powerful deck. I was like "HOW DID HE LOSE 2 GAMES ALREADY?" and then he hit a 2/2 with a 7/7 instead of going face and it was like "Oh he's just bad." In any case I won the game (some of it due to good luck) but the quality of his deck was so high.

After I win I am taken to the results screen where my run just ends. I go to check to see what happened and a few minutes later when I log back in to play a couple of ranked games i get a notice "You lost your recent arena run to a disconnect". What game? You mean that time where the server disconnected me and then found me a completely new game? That nonexisting game I never got into? Blizzard use some of that fucking money you saved by firing over 9000 employees on better servers.

I mean, Tess Rogue got a bunch of support in Rise of Shadows.

Hench-Clan Burglar: 4 mana 4/3 discover a spell from another class.
This guarantees you something off-class.even if you face a Rogue. (It's also a pirate so you can search for it with Raiding Party).

Vendetta: deal 4 damage to a minion (costs 0 if you're holding a card from another class)

Underbelly Fence: 2 mana 2/3 gains +1/+1 and rush if you're holding a card from another class.

Waggle Pick: 4 mana 4/2 weapon, deathrattle return a minion to your hand, it costs 2 less. (basically a Truesliver for rogue with an attached shadowstep instead of attached healing).

For other archetypes that are like Thief Rogue...there's the generate lots of mage spells decks. You run Mana Cyclone, which is "for each spell you cast this turn, add a random mage spell to your hand". And then set up a massive turn where you cast a ton of spells, and play it. It's an elemental, so you can play the "innervate for elementals spell."

Actually had a game where my Tess play was 100% necessary for me to win.

Was going against a Heal Druid and had to keep getting through the walls of Lucentbark. A mass hysteria off a Burglar earned me some much needed stall, but my Tess play resulted in that, card draw, heal, a bunch of tokens on board, AND I drew into a Savage Roar.

Hit him for 29 damage. And his wall of taunts was down.

the thing is. I believe the control warrior (without bombs. the one running hecklebot and stuff). Is much better against aggro than dragon mage or control shaman. Like im 11-0 against mage with my current murloc list (which did change the 2 storms for a voltaic burst and a hex). Like I know 11 games is a small sample but I've won games where I didnt even play anything until turn 3. And control shaman really relies on that scheme most of the time. But control warrior has enough armor gain and such with things like weapons project being able to bridge into a warpath/brawl/hecklebot etc.

I've been testing a new build. Really puts the hurt on druid but still has issues with warrior (the control lists). Elysiana is there for warriors as runs without her have often gone to fatigue where I feel like I could have won if I had 10 more cards too. I might swap a seer for another gate keeper. Nightmare amalgam being a mech AND a murloc is like why the deck even exists.

That's part of it yeah. another is to be able to use zillax more effectively for othermatchups. But Wargear was like the 30th card and some changes were already made. I need to run a silence and I cut the sea giants because I think they are only good against druid (and zoo but thats not common enough), for a silence, another 1/5 taunt guy, and something else I can't remember. The silence basically exclusively for edwin.

Oh, while testing the deck in brawl (like not the best testing ground but I didn't want to jam it on ladder right away) I was against a paladin at like 5 wins or so. So at this point the other guy should know what he's doing.

I had a really good start but he had more value than I was counting on after he played Liam and got some really good legendaries but I managed to get him to 1 HP and had lethal set up. He has no cards in hand, but a decent top deck would allow him to try to stave off lethal.

He top decks "A new challenger" and looks at his taunt options. HE CHOOSES MISSILE LAUNCHER. Let me remind you he's at one HP. Like and after he played it he even played out the entire turn like he was going to not die. Didn't even rope all the way or anything, like I legitimately think he thought it was a good play.

Anyhow...so remember how last year I made a dragon hunter with Emeriss and a secret package to stay alive until I could start dropping dragons? Remember also how last year I made a Kangor's Endless Army Odd Paladin, which used Odd Paladin stuff to contest the board earlygame and stay alive until I could drop Mechano-Eggs?

So...apparently right now there's a deck called Mech paladin which is a Kangor's Endless Army deck that uses Secret Paladin stuff to stay alive in the earlygame, and then drops 4-6 mana mechs. I feel like the Hearthstone deckbuilding community just looked at my deckbuilding style and said "this but unironically".

Anyway, finally opened my second Mysterious Blade, so obviously I needed to try it. Missing quite a few cards. Crafted a second Bellringer Sentry. And...deck was not really functioning (lacked card draw). OK fine, crafted Prismatic Lens. Now the deck works! Nice. (Did not craft: Hidden Wisdom, Commander Rhyssa, Tirion. I can see why each of these would be solid, but the deck synergy functions without them, they're just high value plays. Replaced with 2x Truesilver and 1x Desperate Measures. Truesilver isn't great since this deck already has like 10 four drops and a couple weapons...yeah, ok, going to test cutting a truesilver for Aldor Peacekeeper).

Yeah, I definitely think some of the adaptations made to token druid in that topic are quite good. Not just the doomsayer. Like...running more minions such as Microtech controller, and not runnung mark of the loa cause it sucks. Keeping Swipe over wrath cause this is a meta with lots of 1/1s. Not running Crystalsong Portal cause it doesn't really fit the deck.

I do disagree with the guy on competitiveHS about one point which is that dendrologist has been pretty good for me. Discovers a spell way more often than I thought it would, like almost every time I've played it, and druid spells are highly likely to be good for you. (He's not wrong about eccentric scribe in this deck though--in addition to being kinda slow, often my opponent can kill it on a full board giving me only one scroll.

At some point, if this becomes the standard list, then Keeper Stalladris will need to be cut, since it literally only interacts with the two Power of the Wilds and nothing else in the deck. For now it's probably fine, just because people will freak out killing it thinking it is a must kill and not a river crocolisk 80% of the time.

I mean, last time I used Dendrologist I got three removal cards (claw, bite, and Savagery). Took Savagery, used Savage Roar, and dealt three damage for 1 mana clearing a 4/3. I suppose you'd call these discover options "trash cards" but it let me win a token druid mirror. (Sure, I would have liked to discover a second Savage Roar and win on the spot, but whatever; still won).

Obviously Stalladris is great with Power of the Wild, but that's literally two cards in your deck, also PotW is a 2 drops so you're probably not holding it for very long.

Usually getting some value off of "trash discovers" to me is preferable to occasionally getting big value; less RNG cause you usually get something instead of usually getting nothing.

Maybe I'm wrong though; maybe if you get PotW and Stalladris together your winrate jumps to 90%, making it still better for your overall winrate?

(I'm not planning on cutting Stalladris for a while though; as long as most token lists run a bunch of choose 1 effects, Stalladris has like...super taunt and they'll blow their whole hand trying to kill it).
