Look at the past, we have had attacks against mosques multiple times yearly all over the world for the last couple of years, why would anything change now?

I mean it's not like Mosques don't have violent conflicts in the middle East. The odds there would be any attack on a random mosque is like being afraid to go in a tall building.

Hes saying even in the Middle East mosques at times get attacked, but its not like it stops any Muslims there from still going. Its such a statistically rare occurrence its silly to be afraid, like being pensive to use air travel because a plane got blown up the other day

1. Why bring up the middle East when there's mosques all over the world and I'm in no way middle Eastern?

2. How many times has "your fears are silly" worked to reassure people?

Because those people actually have something to worry about, unlike you who is so statistically unlikely to come to harm, it's not worth thinking about. And they still go.

1. Because theres mostly Muslim majority nations there. Hes saying even in places where its mostly Muslims these sorts of things happen, so if you thought that somehow because you arent somewhere thats Muslim majority that your mosque is more likely to be attacked for whatever reason is unfounded (given your post #6)

2. Perhaps logic and reason doesnt help calm you down but it does for me and many other people. The easiest way I got over my fear of flying is learning how statistically safe it is compared to other forms of travel, it made me understand when people were saying how silly my fears were. But I understand logic and reasoning doesnt help calm everyone

I don't think Muslim-majority nations suffer brutal Islamophohic attacks where political responses to said attacks are victim-blaming and bigotry: ig5tKHm

I beg to differ personally, given the history of violence between Sunni, Shia, and other sects of Islam that occurs routinely in various Middle Eastern countries I just cant agree to that imo

We've got some real xenophobic snots over here. I wonder if Pauline Hanson is gonna top this with an insensitive comment of her own.

This guy doesn't speak for all of Australia. Here's hoping we vote enough of these fuckers out so we don't release official statements scapegoating entire demographics and communities for violent actions being enacted on them by bigots.

Also, y'all responding to "I'm afraid to go to church in the fears that I'll be slaughtered" with "other people have it worse! You're exaggerating! You have nothing to fear!"

Like shit dude, in the wake of a violent massacre in a relatively safe corner of the world - somewhere with much better gun regulation than the US - this guy is frightened and upset. Yeah, he's not going to be in as much risk as someone living in a region being besieged by Boko Haram, but with a crowd of people getting fucking minced by a terrorist in a part of the world that is seen as fairly stable and safe for all walks of life, there's still a severe fear that someone will be empowered by this event and seek to kill more Muslim worshippers.

I'm afraid of lightning - I'm probably never going to be struck by it in my lifetime, but the thought of such an awful death still makes me afraid to go out during thunderstorms. Nothing rational is going to pull me out of that, because no logic can separate the terror I feel at the thought of the fat in my body frying beneath my skin, and my veins burning into grotesque scars, in the span of a couple of seconds.

We have been witness to a massive attack on Muslim people. It's left 40+ people dead. There are politicians on this planet who are saying "they're the victims now, but these actions were only enacted over fears at their way of life that are completely justified in my eyes". There will be people who see this as a triumph against Muslim people, and there could be people who want to enact that same level of violence on other Muslim people.

TC doesn't want to be shot in the head while praying at his local place of worship. A significant amount of Muslim people died that way today. He's expressing this fear only for you folks to go "you're not going to get shot, stop complaining". Have some fucking compassion.

He's an independent, but only since getting kicked out of a right-wing party in 2018. His political career seems to have been confined to One Nation and Katter's Australia Party, both right-wing fringe parties.

His views only serve to further embarrass the Liberal-Nationals, though less so without a direct line to the party. If he hadn't been kicked out of a political party last year, this could have been a much bigger stink for the LNP in the face of our upcoming election.
