I was thinking about this topic considering kateeee's movie of the year posts. What would be your top 10 movies of the decade?

Off the top of my head, I think this is what I would go with:

10) The Big Short(2015)

A movie attempting to describe arguably the most important event of the 21st century so far(the 2007-09 financial crisis). Steve Carell is a beast in the movie.

9) The Hunger Games: Catching Fire(2013)

The best of the Hunger Games movies, imo. I felt it deserves a spot on the list considering the impact the Hunger Games series had on global culture in the early 2010s. It was MASSIVE, Lebron James was reading the series during the NBA playoffs.

8) X-Men: First Class(2011)

One of the top 3 superhero movies in a decade dominated by them. Loved the concept of seeing a young Professor X.

7) The Wolf of Wall Street(2013)

Kinda overrated, but still one of the better movies about capitalism and greed.

6) Avengers: Infinity War(2018)

EVERYONE saw this movie. For that reason alone, it has to be on the list.

5) The Dark Knight Rises(2012)

Not as good as the original Dark Knight, but still a gripping movie.

4) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2(2011)

The ending to one of the most influential series of all time. Great final battle. The HP series was dominant in the 2000s and early 2010s(up until around 2013).

3) Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 1(2010)

The first half of one of the best movies of the decade. A lot of people didn't like the movie due to the camping scenes but I thought it was moving. The opening scene in this film is regarded as one of the best. Perfect setup for the second half.

2) The Social Network(2010)

Most important movie of the decade. Great writing and style. Given the impact of technology and social media on every element of culture in 2010s, this movie has to be at least top 5.

1) How to Train Your Dragon(2010)

Inspirational, moving, epic... simply the best original movie of the decade. This movie has it all.

It's my second favorite movie of the century and I've only seen it once. It might not be for everyone, but it was ridiculously personal for me to the extent that I haven't willed myself to rewatch it.
