Hm...

Lots of good choices but probably Senator Armstrong from Metal Gear Rising.

In fact, that's one of the best boss fights ever. Definitely the best in the Metal Gear series (weeeeeeeell, Monsoon gives it a run for its money), which is already a series where the boss fights are always a highlight.

Base game, probably Soul of Cinder in Dark Souks 3. Arguably the final DLC final boss as well.

I can't recall many final bosses off the top of my head right now.

Hmm. Tough one.

So many to choose from but I'll go with Big Boss in MG 2: Solid Snake.

Only because of how emotional it is.

Well it's kinda set up to be emotional but the fight itself turns into a maze dungeon and it kinda loses itself.

Though I gotta admit, the setup and the part where you actually get the can and lighter is p legit. Especially coming off the heels of the Fox fight.

Which BTW cracked me up having played MGS1 first.

MGS1 Snake: It was nothing personal.
MG2 Fox: BURN IN HELL SNAKE!

I remember DS2s final boss being epic for me cause I had 3-4 phantoms with me and they were dying off throughout the match. I got down to one fourth health when the last one died and was running through all my heals. Ended up beating her when my health was almost gone.

The final final boss of Brave Dungeon has about 3500000 hp, and occasionally heals 200000.

Any boss that can be prayed to death kinda loses any "badass" status.

Yeah it freaking did. I saved every magic restoration item you pick up in the game and filled my inventory with them for that fight and still ran out of magic just from healing. I did beat him on a subsequent try though.

For that sort of boss, you're better off just beating it to death with violence, and conserving MP for healing and 'ohshit' revives.

All about casting white dragon to block certain mega spells. There really was a dance like nuance to that fight. For turned based, it was nerve racking.

One of my favorite rpgs to this day.

I watch the final battle cutscenes and they still send shivers down my spine. And the music was some of the best. Agreed, 10/10. Puts any other ps1 rpg to shame, imo.

Only sometimes.

That said, for the topic at hand, there's too many final bosses to count tbh.

Multi-party fight bosses like the last boss of Sky 3rd are particularly badass though, since it really makes the fight feel like a whole-party effort, while normally it's just sort of implied.

A nod to Dracula in Order of Ecclessia.

Why?

Unlike in previous games, Dracula's second form doesn't involve a monstrous transformation. Instead, he's fully content to stop his usual first form attack form and walk towards you to kick your ass. Also worth mentioning that it's one of the toughest Dracula fights in the series.
