Blizzard should hold back a handful of cards from each expansion, and once a month or so release one or two of them.

I miss the Volcanosaur meta.

Glanced at HSReplay data, saw Even Shaman as the highest winrate shaman deck, I was a little skeptical so I tried it out.

Yeah, positive winrate so far. It benefits from Odd Rogue being extremely rare in the meta (given that Even Shaman runs a million 2/2s). This kind of counterbalances the lack of Flametongue.

I was wondering "why be Even without Flametongue? Surely your totems don't do much." But eh, there's still dire wolf alpha, there's still knife juggler, there's still sea giant. And having more health on the board is good against random damage (Dyn-o-matic, arcane missiles). And sometimes totems actually do something like taunt or heal.

I did get horribly blown out by an Azalina Togwaggle Druid running double Spreading Plague though. (Assumed they were miracle because they only played a ferocious howl before turn 6, so...I went wide on the board; oops).

Some substitutions:

Cheaty Anklebiter in Vicious Scalehide out. It's the better card, Scalehide used to have the argument of "but what if there's a flametongue totem on the board?" Not anymore! There's still Dire Wolf Alpha, but I don't think Dire Wolf Alpha alone justifies running the weaker card.

2x Rain of Toads. I remember a Vicious Syndicate report a while back that this was a particularly high winrate card in the deck that was rarely run for some reason, so in it went (subbing out cards I don't have crafted >_>). Some of the value of the card might have been lost without Flametongue, but the card is still a big pile of stats, so...seems alright? Clinches out games where more value is needed. Probably led to me winning a game against Odd Warrior; did not lead to me winning a game against Control Warlock, but the game went all the way to fatigue with no minions left on the board, so the value was still pretty good.

So, most of you are probably aware that along with some of the nerfs they also slightly censored Jaina's portrait art. Kripp did a pretty funny video about it.

It's shit like this (and other things Blizzard has done recently) which makes me not want to play this game much more than any actual gameplay issues. Like no one had any issues with Jaina showing some skin or being hot for years, and they change it. Without telling anyone.

Like heroes of the storm. They literally tell people that "yeah the championships are happening"... now all Esports for the game is done. Just suddenly without any warning.

Or Diablo immortal. Just shows how disconnected the company is from the fans. I'm not even saying a mobile diablo game would be bad (it would probably be good) but the disaster of the reveal is not doing it any favors.

or just how bad Overwatches general community management and development team seems to be. When I played they just reran old events because they could barely convince and implement them in the first place. They've constantly flipflopped on issues like smurfing and show no actual consistency in things like curving out the growing toxicity within the game.

It's been a huge drama on reddit, and I've kind of been laughing at all the idiots on reddit who won't stop crying over it.

Like...I've played several games against mages since the art change, and I don't think I've even noticed the art being any different when I'm actually in-game (despite the fact that I've seen before and after pictures--it's not like I don't know that it's changed, it just doesn't stick out in game). It's a really small change. Comparing the two side-by-side, I probably prefer the new art, but if nobody had told me the art had changed I don't think I would have noticed.

Didn't they make some small change to one of the other hero portraits a few years back too? Don't remember as much crying about that one, but maybe I wasn't watching Reddit enough.

Yeah, this is a non-issue for me. There are many avenues to see boobs on the internet, a game I play taking them away doesn't negatively impact me and shouldn't negatively impact anyone else.

I also don't see the issue when localizations tone down characters as well, but a lot of people seem to have an issue with that because of "muh waifu".

For lunar new year quests, wanted to play spells without playing 1 mana minions. I had learned from experience that Even Shaman seems to play 1 mana minions (randomly generated off of various elemental effects or psychic screamed into the deck).

So...I headed into casual with my mostly unmodified double Spirit of the Tiger Even Paladin (took out Equality, replaced with Sound the Bells, but otherwise no changes--still had the pyro).

Won almost all my games o_O. (Granted, the one I lost wasn't necessarily a guaranteed loss, I probably should have stayed to see what I drew. I just have a tradition of instant conceeding against Frost Lich Jaina on 9 when I'm playing any deck that's not like...a combo deck).

Playing Whizbang in casual and rolled that handbuff Warlock, and queued into a Dragon Warrior. The deck is actually working well in this game and I'm getting rather large boards out there, but two copies of Reckless Fury and Brawl end up chopping it all down every single time. I'm down to one card in my hand and I'm ten cards deeper in fatigue.

Hir'eek the Bat is really good when your opponent doesn't have board clear left. Hard to clear 77/77 worth of stats with Warpath.

The 'Your Month in Hearthstone' emails they send you apparently combine wins between all three regions, because one of them says I had a 14 game win streak in standard ladder and I absolutely did not have anything like that on any individual region. I had to have won eight or nine on EU, and then a couple on each of the other two regions.

6 game losing streak, none due to skill level. Everyone is teching for odd paladin and draws ALL of these answers, or I get bad matchups. There are no games of Hearthstone decided by skill level.

It's actually not, though (and they're increasing the number of people on the Hearthstone team, not decreasing; Heroes of the Storm is the team that's getting gutted).

Activision Blizzard also recorded record profits this year, but they came in below the projections that the executives had made earlier in the year. So, in order to please shareholders they laid off 8% of their workforce, which investors liked causing a 4% bump in the ATVI stock price.

Basically 800 people got fired because of the way capitalism for publicly traded companies is structured in America. I don't think these layoffs would have happened if Activision-Blizzard was a privately held company.

(I am very on board the "Blizzard needs to split from Activision" train now, though).

I had an arena run sitting at 2-2, not sure how long it's been since I played it but it was likely when the last free tickets were handed out. May as well finish it now.

Turn 1: Coin, Bloodsail Raider
Opponent Turn 2: Golakka Crawler
Turn 2: Bloodsail Raider
Opponent turn 3: Golakka Crawler

Pretty fast way to finish that run. I'm not sure what was more surprising, that my opponent had two of those in his hand to eat both of my pirates, or that it didn't result in any emotes at all.

I read that post, and I really agree with it.

Hearthstone is (usually) in a bad spot before rotation. Mean Streets sucked, Kobolds sucked, and now Rasta sucks.

Rasta sucks because Mammoth was such a bullshit year however. Ravens sets asides from the horrible design choice that is Genn and Baku (cards that need to get DELETED from the game) have been really balanced and cool.

Won in the tavern brawl with all 9 classes.

Warlock was the worst by far (took like 9 tries or something). Like...ok, demonic project is in the deck, but also demonfire. So you give them demons that you now can't damage. A lot of the big power cards are 5 mana creatures, like Deathweb Spider and Floating Watcher, but the problem is these cards want you to self-damage, which encourages holding spells till turn 5, which...kinda negates a lot of the strengths of the shrine. The time I won I just didn't bother. Burned myself down fast, played a 9/9 hooked reaver, and then a Bloodworm cause I was at like 5 health. Shipped everything face and prayed they couldn't full clear my board the turn their shrine came back.

All of the decks have some questionable inclusions. Like...Gurubashi Chicken in druid (I don't think they actually have any way to pump up the health or attack on the Chicken, so it's literally just a 1/1). Serpent Ward in mage is also a little weird, for all that the mage shrine is really good (0 mana hero powers) so it doesn't matter too much.

Reddit seems convinced that the Paladin shrine is the best, and IDK maybe? If you can stick two minions, particularly if you have a 1 drop it's almost unstoppable. If you don't get that, and are forced to put buffs directly on your shrine it's whatever. I'd probably lean mage as overall more powerful, but I could be wrong.

EDIT: also want to comment on the Rogue shrine, because it was hyped up by some on Reddit as one of the best shrines, and is showing a decent winrate from logs. I think it's bad against a smart opponent. Just don't pop the shrine (unless you have a board clear or they don't have many minions). Oooh some 1/1 pirates have stealth; whatever, doesn't stop you from going face. I mean, it can still win, it's an aggro deck, but it does get stopped by taunts or board clears (even Swipe is often a full clear).

Won every game I played as mage against Paladin and Rogue, but lost a game to Priest (not even a game where they got a weapon, just one where they played a Radiant Elemental and then copied it three or four times by turn 4). Yeah, that deck can go to value town for sure.
