It doesn't look very tall, or even strong. Is it simply because the border is so long?

I wonder how long this shutdown will last.

Sounds pretty advance. Do you think it'll make America great?

The $5B he wants isnt even close to the total cost btw. Also it will require even more money for maintenance

imagine if china had their government shut down just to see how much money they could get to fund their wall instead of just getting workers to start laying brick xd

Because Donald Trump is scamming the American people. He has a friend that owns a company that holds the contract to build the wall, and his friend stands to get very very rich off of this.

Because you have to buy the land and bulldoze through houses, mountains, and rivers just to build it along the border.

Its a stupid idea that wont solve anything.

Well for one the border is really long, almost 2,000 miles. Additionally, not all of that terrain is flat and easy. Not only that, but a lot of border land is privately owned IIRC, so the owners would have to be bought out under imminent domain.

I think $5B is a low estimate for what the project will cost. It'll probably end up costing way more. Factor in the maintenance costs and it will be a huge money sink.

5B is 1/10 of 1% of the National budget. Its not expensive. Even the final cost of approximately 25B isnt. We spend double that a year on development aid for foreign countries including many that are hotbeds of terrorist activity. The opposition is solely petty against the orange guy that beat them. To suggest otherwise is disingenuous.

So, there's private property in the future path of the wall, and the government hasn't even bought it out in advance? Seriously?

Well they would need an approved budget before they can do so.

Well.

I don't think that the shutdown will last too much longer, though. Maybe 2 weeks. When people get really angry, Trump will cave. You know how much he hates in criticism.

Welp..they didn't get paid today. Maybe three more missing paychecks will open their eyes for them to find a new job.

Ultimately I think the GOP will cave before Trump or the Dems do. The GOP kinda has to back him to keep their voter base pleased, but if it goes on too long I can see their voters starting to sour on the whole thing.
