So, I wanted to get something before the Steam sale ends. I have never played any Splinter Cell or Max Payne games, and their bundles are on sale right now. But so is The Messenger, a game I am very interested in (I never turn down a good Metroidvania). So looking for opinions.

Never heard of The Messenger myself, but Max Payne and Splinter Cell games were both enjoyable.
