Togo's is so good but for some reason the meatball subs there (which I loved) started making me sick when I ate them about 5 years ago. There are none here so I can't tell if that stopped but of the chain stores, Togo's had the best meatball subs by far.

I hate to say it because he's a nice guy, but holy shit LinkPizza is obnoxious with his opinions. Just accept that people find Subway gross, you don't have to go on and on about it. Same thing with defending your excessive soda-drinking habit, is it really so hard to understand why people would object to that?

A former Subway employee stating facts about the process is being obnoxious with opinions now?

The only reason Subway is as popular as it is is saturation. There is pretty much a Subway every 1-2 miles in my area. I always know that no matter where I am or what podunk town I am stuck in, I am always within walking distance of a Subway. In that way, it is like McDonalds or Starbucks. Not good by any stretch, but just so many of them that you are going to be forced to eat it eventually.

ROFL, people actually think this. Like if it was absolutely dog shit food people would keep going there simply because it's all over the place. roooofl.

It's the same reason people play CoD.

Umm, yea? Why is that LOL worthy?

If the only food in your fridge is whale blubber and the closest store is 200 miles away, doesn't matter how sick of it you are, you are going to be eating whale blubber.

ROOOOFL, because people won't go 5 more blocks down the road for something that isn't blubber in your crazy scenario.

Again, why is that so weird? People are creatures of habit and convenience, it is very well proven that even if there is a better option 5 minutes out of their way they will almost always go for the one that more convenient. It is why fast food is as convenient and plentiful as it is. Someone leaves work and says "man, when I get home I have to cook up that food. I am so tired...Oh look, Subway! I'll just grab something there!"

I dont think thats it. Convenience is great. But people mostly go for convinent food they like. Especially since other fast food chains that are big or have a lot of chain are also around... Most Subways are usually close to another fast food restaurant, as well. Not to mention, most Subways dont have a drive -thru. And if it was about how much time they are spending, its usually longer there then other places. Though, the app could save time. But then so could save time at most places...

And not having to make it. And the ingredients. Like having to slice pepperoni or salami. And having multiple cheeses. And having all the extra meats that would probably cost more than that. And they do have a better oven for toasted the food that goes faster than my toaster oven...

Fun fact: Apparently, according to my friend who work at like a million Subways, they are like a super cheap (one of the cheapest, I believe) franchises to buy into. Which is why most people, when buying a Subway, buy two. I dont think its all of them, but I think most. Thats how it was back home and here. But just something I thought about

It's not like Subway had infinite money to start off with opening thousands of shops. They were able to expand because...wait for it....people actually liked their product and chose to keep going there, giving them the income to spend on expansion!
Crazy concept, I know.

Yeah but saying subway has the best subs is like saying McDonalds has the best burgers. I'm not one to generally say that someone can be objectively wrong about food but fresh meat is objectively better than meat thats been frozen for a month. Also, chains tend to start out higher quality and then lose quality as they open more and more restaurants and have to streamline everything

Subway also got big before the rise of "fast casual", when people started having a demand for higher quality food. I don't think that Subway could blow up as a new chain offering the quality they have today.

Subway sort of is/was masquerading as fast casual though. They were the first big one I remember to market themselves as an alternative to fast food, but that was more about health/weight loss.

Why spend $4 more for healthier food when you can send $4k for a doctor's appointment and prescription pill?

Because eating a sub will most likely not send you to the hospital. Meaning that you save $4. Which adds up.

Yeah, Subway's prices are what keeps customers coming back. Not the quality of their food.

This for me. A $5-7 foot long can be almost both lunch and dinner if I'm not that hungry. In terms of quality, I do feel most other sandwich shops are better but at higher price. In terms of most bang for the buck, I feel Vietnamese Banh Mi are the best. At Lee's Sandwiches you can get a good size one that's taste good for maybe $2-3.
