But it looks like thats how its going to have to be. Im 30 years old and not happy with my job. But unfortunately theres nothing really around here thats worth leaving this job for.

Im planning on starting school next year, just something I can go for two years for, but by the time Im done, Ill be 33. And then who knows how long until I actually get the kind of job I want / need.

You got like 4 decades at least, man. Just a small re-adjustment phase to get to where you wanna be.

In another couple of years you'll be 33 anyway, and you'll still have the basic problem of trying at that age to get the kind of job you want/need. So you might as well get some extra education tucked under your belt. The longer you leave it, the harder things will be.

Went to college from high school. Dropped out. Went back when I was 27. Went for my Masters at 32. Went back for the Doctorate at 40.

I have a friend who just finished her Doctorate at 55.

30 is still quite young.

Id really rather not unless it was for some amazing career. But I dont have ANY post-high school education so Im looking to do something besides bounce around from one crummy job to the next.

Have you considered the military? A lot of people are joining in their late 20's and early 30's now for specifically that: starting over.

Our generation is an interesting one. People trying to go about things the right way: College, job, marriage....

...but it doesn't pan out. So much debt. Can't find a job. Failed marriages. Dead ends.

And your youth is only slipping away each day.

If you are healthy and at all disciplined, I highly suggest checking the military out. They'll take care of everything, pay for everything, and all you have to do is be....willing to move. And die. But we won't really focus on that last part.

I guess Im just feeling a little anxiety about stepping way out of my comfort zone lol.

I was actually planning on going back to school a few years ago in 2013, but then I got hurt at work, which was like a snowball effect into more things just going wrong.

Im in a better place now, but its like a double-edged sword, because when I was working part time (technically- I still got a full time schedule) and living with my parents, I could work BS shifts if needed (like a four-hour day here, a five-hour day there, etc.) but now Im legitimately full time at my job and I live in my own apartment.. so I cant be changing my schedule around TOO much and I cant afford to just be a part time worker.

I went through a similar thing. I went to college when I was 18 right after high school, but I ended up dropping out because I was too immature to take college seriously. I spent my 20s working dead end minimum wage jobs until I finally got fed up and went back to college when I was 30. I took college seriously then and graduated with a Bachelors in Accounting when I was 35. I then got my first real career job. Now I am turning 40 in a few months.

The only regret I have is wasting my 20s by doing nothing of any real value. It seems like real life didn't even start for me until I was 30 because that was when I finally got my act together. I imagine a lot of people go through something similar. College can be wasted on young teenagers who are too immature to take it seriously. College can be more appreciated when you're older and more mature. I saw a lot of 30+ year olds at my college, and I wondered how many actually went through something similar to me.
