I'm basically at the very beginning, I just went to sleep after the blonde dude (Ryuuji?) Awakened his persona and everything. Then we got food, and something went on with two girls and then now sleep.

This is my first persona game btw.

Make sure to get to rank 7 with the Fortune girl ASAP. You get the ability to pay to boost friendship with a confidant without using up time, so you never have to spend time with a confidant unless it levels them up.

Hang out with the Death arcana doctor to get SP-recovery items and accessories that will allow you to finish Palaces in one day (unless the story requires multiple days).

Temperance Rank 10 lets you occasionally skip class to do other tasks, so focus that one as well.

I believe it's no longer possible to level up the Sun confidant after November, so get him done before then.

Make sure to get the social stat-boosting juice every Sunday at the underground walkway area. Using money instead of time to boost stats is a better investment.

Make sure to always have a book on you. On certain days you can read on the train, and books can either help you boost stats or unlock new hang-out spots.

Make sure to get any questions in class right, even if you have to reset if you mess up. Don't squander opportunities to boost social stats.

Haven't played since the game came out, but this is what I remember.

As soon as you get the death confidant (will happen through the story and fairly early) your first priority is to immediate get it to level 7 and buy sp adhesive 3 accessories for all your party members (cost 50k each at rank 7, 100k each at rank 5), you will need Guts to spend time with them so rank Guts up asap

Do dungeons asap and in as few days as humanely possible, you can get through an enitre dungeon in a single day once you have the sp adhesives

Temperance is another high priority confidant to rank up as soon as its available, Fortune is really helpful

Youll never do everything in one playthrough, so prioritize leveling up social stats because you WILL need them at certain levels to hang out with confidants and social stats carry over to NG+ while confidant ranks dont

On a first playthrough, besides the confidants i mentioned above, i feel like focusing on ranking up your party members confidant level should be a priority over others, they give nice skills that are useful in battles and level 10 will power up their personas

This wont make sense yet but dont waste a day in mementos unless you have multiple targets to take down, generally not worth the time otherwise

Without spoiling names, the most important Confidants (off the top of my head) are:

Moon, Sun, Fortune, Death, Strength, Temperance, Hierophant, Tower, Star, and of course the party members. Dialogue choices made during most Confidants will have an effect on how much they like you, which can make it easier to rank up to the next rank. There will be a visual indicator when you give a "correct" dialogue response. The personas you have with you will also help rank up a Confidant faster, so you should generally try to have a Persona with the same Arcana as the Confidant you're seeing.

Hierophant can only go up to either rank 3 before completing the 4th Palace's story arc. Again without spoiling anything, it should be obvious when exactly you'll be able to advance it again.

Aside from one specific Moon event, Moon and Sun Confidants will rank up whenever you meet with them. Strength, and any other story related Confidant, will rank up at the same rate no matter what you say.

Don't waste time slots on exercising at home or at the gym, all you'll get out of it is some extra HP and SP.

Buy plant fertilizer and give it to the plant in your room every couple of weeks, you'll get free Kindness points that way. The more expensive the better.

Dungeon wise, don't get too attached to any one persona during casual play. Keep 'em varied to deal with a variety of scenarios and fuse often. This is one of the easier Persona games on Normal Mode, so as long as you're not a complete dingus at JRPGs you should be fine.

Since this is your first playthrough, don't stress too much about doing everything you possibly can. Just do whatever interests you and have fun with it.

Almost forgot, make sure to enable Thieves' Guild. You can use it to see how other players spend their days and see the correct answers to questions in class. There is literally no reason to not have it enabled.

Also, you can totally do all the Confidants in one playthrough, if you choose the right responses with Confidants (or use a guide). Even without following a guide with a schedule, I finished all the Confidants with 4 weeks left, just abuse Fortune's ability every day.

Min-max activities by choosing the right day to visit the bath house, or eating special food/drinks.

Finish the dungeon in the shortest amount possible so you have time to level up your social parameters and hang out with your friends to increase bond with them.

Visit the P5 board for build guides.

Check out some of the P5 DLC. Kaguya is a mighty fine persona to have. Some of the costumes are neat too. Price is the only issue.

This is an exceptional resource for persona fusion, abilities, stats, weaknesses and more: https://chinhodado.github.io/persona5_calculator/#/list

Don't be overwhelmed by the time limitations and the stuff you can do. There IS NG+ after all.

Oddly enough, my advice would be to avoid advice. Just ride the wave of this masterpiece.

Obviously there are going to be a lot of ways to optimize, but unless you're playing on one of the harder difficulties it's going to be difficult to not beat the game regardless of what you do.

I regret to a certain extent getting advice on things like social links, because you'll hear things like "oh this social link isn't that great", and I didn't prioritize it even if the way I was envisioning my character would have had them pursuing it.

If I did it all over again I'd avoid all info.

Okay, I have one piece of advice. During your play through, at least every week or so (of your time, not in game time), watch the intro when you fire it up.

Youll need to grind for a l o t of cash for temperance lvl 10 plus the doctor items.

Just look up social links guide so you dont waste answers. Same for class questions.

Since this is your first persona dont forget to have a matching persona with you for each confidant youre levelling up.

Temperance lvl 10 lets you go out at night after dungeons(normally the day ends).

Yeah, I'm sure it's not as difficult as I'm making it seem, definitely easier than in 3 or 4. I just prefer to focus on powering through the ones that actually interest me story-wise. I've been burned too many times by not having good enough time management to finish Social Links that I was starting to get really invested in. </3

Also finish them in as few runs as possible. You want to only take 2 days to clear a dungeon: one to clear up to the treasure room, and one to send a calling card/fight the boss. I haven't played it in a while, so I don't have much other advice to give. Focus on increasing your social stats so you get access to more stringent confidant links and activities, as well.

Answers you need to give are determined by the persona's personality type (shown during Hold Up). I dunno if I'm just bad at negotiating, but I remember really hating the "Gloomy" personality type. Those fuckers are horrible to negotiate with, I swear.

I don't really enjoy the game that much but I'll give you some tips:

Spend time with party members you know you will use to get their Rank up on social days. When the map icon shows a "card" of the person in that area that you can spend time with, it will say UP! next to it. That means that you will almost 100% guarantee a rank up when spending time with them. This is beneficial for party members because they give you passive benefits.

Some of the best things to rank up early are Death (Doctor), Sun (Politician) and Temperance (Maid) for the perks.

You don't need to worry about every single social link if you don't want to but the game is actually kind of a bitch difficulty wise if you don't have the SP Adhesive 3 accessory from Death Rank 7 (Doctor) because SP is literally used for just about everything that matters, and HP is used for most of the Persona basic attacks, which generally are shit outside of being buffed and spamming multi-hit moves with Ryuji.

I got to like the 5th dungeon before getting sick of the game. It's just too long.

For someone just playing for the first time, the first Palace can always be kinda rough. The 2nd Palace can be reasonably beaten in just two visits, which the game forces you to do anyway, and you should have at least one SP Adhesive 3 (from Death rank 7) by the third palace, which should be enough to get you through that Palace on its own if you pass it around. At least, that's how my first playthrough went. Once I got a full set of SP Adhesive 3 I found myself breezing through Palaces like a champ.

Only tip I'd give is make sure you have a matching persona to your confidant when you hang out with them, like always having a Chariot type persona when hanging out with Ryuji. It makes a pretty big difference in your progress.

Main exception, the Sun confidant will level up no matter what every time you spend time with them.

Sun Confidant, once initiated, can be ranked up each time you spend time with him, and he always texts you when he's ready to see you. In order to start the Confidant, you have to work two nights at the beef bowl shop before talking to the politician in Station Square.

The Strength Confidant, I don't remember when it's actually initiated, can be completed during the 6th Palace at the earliest. Might actually want a guide for this one, you're gonna have to get kinda creative with your fusions.

Some of them can inflict random status effects, so those can be worth buying. Plus money is pretty plentiful, gotta spend it on something lol.

another tip I just remembered tc, don't forget like I did that you can buy any persona you've previously had in the Velvet Room, just go to the compendium and you can pay yen to get back old personas. This is immensely useful when trying to complete the Strength confidant. For example if you fuse two personas, you can now buy each of those and the persona you got out of the fusion whenever you want as long as you have the money.

level 10

no grinding tips just dont run from battles and you will stay the level you need to be
if you really want to grind on like 3 days in the game during a special weather if you go into mementos and run into the reaper he can start the battle with the despair status effect.

the reaper shows up if you spend to much time on one floor of mementos and is so strong he will wipe out your party even at end game.

he gives a lot of experience though. anyway on these days which you only have a small window to take advantage of and they are all late game. anyway he can randomly start the battle with despair which is a status effect that makes the one inflicted with it do nothing for 3 turns then die
so yeah this is a super easy way to get to high levels late game. its recommended you max out the shogi playing girl in the churchs confidant because she lets you escape from battles at the start which means there is no risk of not getting him with despair and having him wipe you out before you have your first turn
