Strong new villains generally require strong new games and strong new heroes for them to oppose. Not gonna be a lot of that on gamefaqs.

Keep in mind the major non nintendo franchise Square has a habit of Zeromusing or Necroning the villains as well, which isn't going to help their contest strength. Guys like Kuja or Seymour Guado or Vayne or Barthandalus or Ansem could be stronger than they are if they were featured through the entire game as the main villain. Not that most of these have made contests but they'd all be fodder if they had.

Nintendo just reuses their villains and after that no one on the site cares

Hes still not the final boss (Yu Yevon, which is another Zeromus affair), nor is he the guy who got into Dissidia (Jecht), so he suffers in staying in the popular memory.

No one ever says that about video games except maybe Far Cry 3 through 5.

I think it's more than villains are narratively even more important than heroes sometimes. Video games can't really get away with giving villains a comparable amount of screen time without you being able to control them though.

Also film heroes would still be more popular.

It really depends on the rest of the cast. Ensembles in particular generally lead to more of a focus on the villain (FF6 being a prime example), and those aren't really that prevalent compared to narratives with a clear main character.

The following rankings give an idea of how oriented the CBX characters are towards anonymous voters and registered voters. Negative percentages indicate that a character is oriented towards anonymous voters, while positive percentages indicate a character is oriented towards registered voters. I can tell you right now, though, that these are not necessarily accurate (for example, notice how far apart Scorpion and Sub-Zero are). Keep in mind the opponents matter a lot for those rankings too. Though in Phoenix's case it's kinda doubly weird because he was against others that did better with unregistered in general.

In some ways Luigi isn't that weird. High Nintendo skew generally does well with registered voters. Mario and Sonic are pretty high too.

But on the other hand what I don't get is how Luigi can be so positive when Edgeworth is super positive and Frog is very positive and Tails and Tifa are slightly positive. Like that's his entire path so ??? how can everyone in it do better with registered users. Is it all because they get measured through Tifa who went super user vote positive on Samus or something? I'm not sure that's a good way to measure skew. Maybe there's something I'm missing.

Yeah, this is literally the people who remembered Draven and Undertale's runs in previous contests and voted for them based on them. The casual traffic skewed closer to the normal percentage these characters would have scored without those events happening.

Only a tiny percentage of the registered voters voted for Draven because of Draven's past success. Registered voters voted 87.77% for Ammy and 88.86% of anonymous voters voted for Ammy.
