Atlantis is fun, but it isn't nearly as good as the original series. They let themselves down in terms of delivering on the premise. It also has fewer good episodes overall.

I'd agree that it's not as good as SG-1 overall, but it was still enjoyable. They didn't deserve to get a rushed/cancelled ending like they did, though.

Whatever the third show was, was actual trash tho imo. Universe, was it?

I'd agree that it's not as good as SG-1 overall, but it was still enjoyable. They didn't deserve to get a rushed/cancelled ending like they did, though.

Atlantis was ok overall. It gets bonus points for introducing us to Jason Momoa's beastly badassery. And McKay was pretty amusing.

Universe started off pretty shitty, with everyone having meltdowns against each other like it's a soap opera in space (kinda like the Battlestar Galactica series, but even worse).
Still, I forced my way through it, because I enjoyed Robert Carlyle's character (Dr Rush, the lead scientist).
The second season was better and less cringe-worthy, but not enough to save the series.

I hated Universe when it aired. I watched it mainly out of loyalty to the franchise. But, I rewatched the series again recently on Hulu and its actually pretty good. Ive found that Universe plays really well in a binge-able, Netflix-like format. When you can watch all the episodes back to back then the show doesnt drag like it did in its weekly format. I thought Universes premier episode, Air, was horrible when it aired because it dragged out over multiple weeks and seemed slow as shit. But its a totally different feeling binging the series. The premier actually plays pretty well like that.

I think Universe would have been praised as a Netflix show. It was a little bit ahead of its time in that its set up more like Netflixs Daredevil or Jessica Jones than a typical SyFy show. In that way, Universe might have aged the best out of all three shows.

Now, whatever you do, avoid Stargate Origins at all costs. Oh, and you might want to watch the first episode of Stargate Infinity right now, before you get too far into SG1. Just for the laughs.

The first two episodes are worth a watch (not because its good.) It helps put the franchise in some context.

Oh that crazy Thor. Once you know its Michael Shanks voice you cant unhear it. BTW, didnt Thors Hammer paint the Asgard as the builders of roads, aka, the builders of the Stargates? Am I remembering that right?

Teal'c totally got fucked by the ending. His sacrifice brought tears to my eyes. That last episode is pretty depressing and is the one thing I remember when I watch TLJ, because of the whole "can't escape even after jumping into hyperspace" thing.

This is my favorite show ever and was my go to for feel good time on SyFy and then Netflix. But then they got rid of it on Netflix and SyFy became a joke and despite having Amazon Prime, I never really hooked up the Fire Stick, and just used the Chromecast, so I couldn't get back on to it. So Friends ended up becoming my go to.

It's established in the movie and first episodes that they built it. Asgardians never take or receive the credit for that. Just that they are one of the 4 races.

Im fairly certain that the Ancients arent given credit for building the Stargate until The Fifth Race. The movie flat out implies the Gould built it.

You're right. It's confirmed in the Fifth Race, but nonetheless, Thor's Chariot never mentions the builders nor is it implied it's ever them.

I wouldn't exactly say he 'got totally fucked'. In his own reasoning, he was the logical choice, as he had many more years to live. At worst, he is middle-aged by the end.

they seem to allude to it, yes.

but in general the story seems to hold the builders as a mystery.
