Current Events > Is it rude to push someone else's items on the supermarket conveyor belt?

Supermarket didn't have many cashiers so there was long lines. When it was my turn I put my gallon of milk on the conveyer belt and the cashier didn't roll the item up to the front and was busy with the customer in front of me. The person behind me push my milk to make space for their items. Was that rude or is that normal supermarket etiquette?

Yeah. Seems pretty rude. But it wouldnt bug me too much since i know what their intentions are.

I usually try to move it up and put the stick thing after my stuff.

I should add that my item was probably in the middle it wasn't all the way in the back.

Yea I didn't want to make a big deal I just felt that if roles were reversed and I did that the person would probably yell at me or something.

Generally, don't touch consumables that don't fucking belong to you.

With the amount of sick people kicking around the holiday season, I wouldn't want to handle other people's groceries and I don't want them handling mine.

Rude as fuck, it's an unwritten rule to never touch other peoples items on the belt. They should have simply asked you to move your item up so they can start loading. Or just be patient because they're not saving much time if any at all.

I wouldn't be too bothered by it if they nudged your stuff a bit with the dividers to make room, but actually handling someone else's items does seem rude.

rude, unless they were using a hand basket or otherwise stuck holding the items in their hands.

If they had a cart and just wanted to start unloading, it's generally seen as rude but more importantly non important because it's not like they're going to get out of checkout any faster since they have your entire checkout before they're free to.
