Staves. Magic is the dominant force.
Aside from that, from a melee perspective... Darkman124 posted... polearms Xatrion posted... There's something elegant and captivating about spears. That or I've been reading too much Stormlight Archive. Polearm weapons are my favorite in terms of physical weapons. Sword and board all day in fantasy
Modern combat, always a shotgun as long as it's viable. If I'm fighting in the open at longer ranges, I'll stick to the classic Assault Rifle unless/until I can get my hands on whatever heavy weapons may be available. Perfect world is crossbow + dagger combo. Gets you some ranged pepper and then you get to whip out the ol' stabby stabby as they charge you.
