another generic democrat. this time it'll work for sure
0% (0 votes)

a democrat that shifts the party further to the left. a sanders type, or even more left than that
40% (2 votes)
2
a democrat that shifts the party towards the right. a "meet in the middle" type like those red state democrats
60% (3 votes)
3
if you don't think any democrat can win, then just pick the one you think would have the highest chance

Though I want Trump to win again-----

One that can turn up a crowd like Trump can. As much as I dislike Obama, I can admit he was a good crowd pleaser/speaker. He offered that hope and change! Maybe someone with similar attributes to Beta, though Beto has never even been a senator and failed his senate race with Cruz.

I think it will take some effort to defeat Trump. Not just anyone will be able to do it.

they'll absolutely need to be able to excite and energize people. that has to happen no matter what imo though. I was more curious if people thought the democrats need to try to become more like conservatives or more like social democrats or if they should stay exactly where they are as neoliberals

They should probably stay the same. Hillary would have won if Trump didn't successfully run. I don't believe Cruz or Ted could have won WI, PA and MI.

But then that brings us back to the conundrum, because Trump allegedly will be running again.

Interesting question.

that hasn't been true since the time before you were even born.

and a major tipping point for Clinton's victory was because of his inhumane stance on crime and punishment. literally a three strikes system.

preferably someone who has not been demonized by 30 years of republican propaganda

it's just a little too easy for them to attack a candidate like clinton when people already believe a ton of nonsense

beyond that idgaf. if we turn out 5 more voters than the GOP do in PA, OH, FL, etc we win. the presidential election isnt about good candidates it is about exploiting the electoral college and not diluting your campaign to help down-ticket candidates

There are more dimensions to politics than "left" and "right." Clinton may have been more "moderate" than Bernie, but on the issues that mattered to voters, Bernie had a lot in common with Trump.

I prefer an Obama Democrat.

A rational centrist that isn't suicidal on border security and foreign policy but someone that can progress us forward.

Unfortunately it seems like the party is so fractured I don't know what type would be best, because anyone that appeals to moderates will alienate the full commie idiots and anyone that appeals to the cuck commies and identitarians, will alienate moderates.

Young, handsome, charismatic, great campaigner, little to no scandals, not on the party fringe

Basically Obama 2.0

I don't have much of an opinion of him myself yet. He did well in Texas, but I'd have to learn more about that dude. On a surface level seems better than Booker, Warren, Gilliabrand, and Biden, however

Hot Take: Not a woman. Country's just not ready for it. It's basically impossible to find a woman in the Democratic party who won't be painted as a shrill domineering harpy in the general election. The media landscape lends itself to pushing that sort of narrative regardless of the validity of it.

imo, it's less this and more the perception that the dem primary base/party establishment is playing favorites

a woman who had broad support from men in the primaries would do great. given the nature of GOP identity politics and how much better they are at it, a woman who is not running on her candidacy being 'historic' would also assist. that was seen as deeply toxic for clinton and she distanced herself from it, but far too late.

um, no.

gerrymandering is a spectrum, and the least gerrymandered result would be "% of house reps/state legislature elected equivalent to % of votes for that party, +/- 5%."

that said it is super fucked that state legislatures can draw the districts THEY are elected to. it's bad enough that they do it for federal house representatives but it's a million times worse that they also do it for themselves.
