I work in a job that never involves seeing the customer, and the people carrying out the interests of the customer are bad enough.

Physical labour jobs. You'll get opportunities to get qualifications for machinery.

I work in customer service with Uber/Lyft now. But if a customer is an a******, I can pull over and tell them to get the f*** out and just drive away from their bulls***. And still get paid.

Is it really that simple? I drove for uber for a while and luckily never had a really terrible rider but I've heard of people getting fired for doing that

I don't think. I know. retail is the worst. unpaid, bad hours. The only thing that could be good is bonuses from sales. but besides that it's not worth it.

Plus it made me hate Christmas music. How dare they take that away.

Also get a physical labor job where the hours make it convenient to go to school. Many warehouses want you to work 10-12 hours a day. Even a simple 9-5 makes it difficult to take classes

I kind of like it in a sense. But its weird. Customers dont seem to be very smart, and management does the strangest things. Meanwhile im just slammin carts around like a caveman and being asked how much the pork shoulders are. No I do not know how much the pork is also why did you park your enormous monster truck in the compact car spot

Ive never had to do it. But it is an option. I would only do it if a rider becomes completely biligerant or abusive.

I also have a camera in my car so Id have proof of what happened.

Both Uber and lyft have specific rules, and you pull over at the nearest safe place and ask customers to get out.

Yeah I was dumb and didnt have a camera in mine

Depends where you live. Almost non existent where I live. Ones you can get without some sorta degree anyways.

Where I live options are pretty much physical labor fast food retail or the prison. As far as jobs without degrees/certifications go. Prison requires a certification but they themselves put you through it while even paying you while you take the class.

Even with a STEM degree in the midwest, most of the jobs are service jobs with no upward mobility, no raises for any reason, "make just barely enough to keep coming to work" level pay, and will most certainly not teach you any useful skills.
Most factories either move out of state, or completely shut down, and not always even due to executives embezzling everything but the bolts out of the company.

Once I finish my current retail job I am NEVER working it again. Customers are horrible and ruin anything positive that could possibly come from the job. Management never stands by you whenever you finally put your foot down to make it even worse. But, IMO, the worst part is the people who hear you whine about your job and either remind you that you need it for the money or, worse, go 'Oh boo hoo. My job sucks too. Get over it.'

Whoever thought making the guy who is afraid of dealing with people your primary cashier is an idiot and should have been fired long ago.

They just started forcing you to do it before you could work here not long ago. Before they'd go ahead and throw you in the Lions den and send you off to a class when one became available. Too many issues where guards could get away with breaking rules because they weren't "trained" yet though

I enjoy it well enough. my current job i sell booze to people and it really isnt that bad. But I also work for a company that has policies and the management sticks to it.

I previously worked at wal-mart which was horrible, way, way worse then working for the state gov't.

But yeah, customers are bad and absolutely arent always correct. Ive seen enough customers flat out cheat, lie and steal to confirm that was never, ever true.

it has it's moments for sure

i'm a cashier for a convenience/fuel store. some customers are fine, others can have a bad mood, etc, even get handed boob money from time to time (trust me, it's gross), in which case I immediately use hand sanitizer. and there's even a co-worker I can't stand being around who works the same shift I do.

which is why i'm going to get my resume updated, and look for somewhere else to work

When I was working in food, I definitely appreciated it more than possibly working retail in other shops around me. Customers need food, so they give me something to do. I couldn't fathom working the same hours at a place where an occasional customer waltzed in, browsed and left without buying anything. I would be totally bored.

I imagine some girls do it because a mugger isn't likely to search her bra. At least it's not as gross as a guy keeping coins and/or bills in his briefs.
