So I checked System Requirements Lab to see if my Laptop can play Grand Theft Auto V. It said it couldn't and the only factor against it was my dedicated video RAM. GTA needs 1 GB and I only have 128 MB of dedicated VRAM.

But I also thought that perhaps this factor could be avoided because the website says I can't run games like MapleStory, Blade and Soul, and Black Desert Online even though I have tried them on my laptop and they work fine.

Do you think my computer can still run GTA even with the lack of dedicated VRAM? Or should I take System Requirements Lab's advice and not run it?

wow, only 128 MB of VRAM? that's sad lol. are you sure you're looking at your DEDICATED card, or just the Intel Chipset graphics

System requirements lab is notoriously unreliable. That being said, only 128MB of VRAM is abysmally low, and even if you got it to run, it would be slideshow quality at best.

I guess I can take that sacrifice. I already have the game on PS4, I'm just thinking about purchasing on PC for some reason.

It could be wrong. Does your laptop have hybrid graphics? That means the dedicated card can turn off or on and if the test was run with it off it would've only recognized the gpu integrated into the cpu

There sure are a lot of different mes just like you have a lot of different yous!
I'm going outside to play now I hope all the different yous have fun too. Bye!

I mean, I'm not really an expert or anything, just my impression. It MIGHT work. According to that video though, it looks to me like you wouldn't get a stable 30FPS...

that's what I was wondering too, because my Intel integrated gfx has 128MB VRAM

Check the BIOS. You might be able to allocate more of your system RAM to it if it's one of those kinds of chips.

@Space_Man If by hybrid graphics you mean integrated graphics, then yes (I think.) And @catboy0_0 I think I have a similar VRAM to yours.

Dude can you like post your actual system specifications please? That's going to be the ultimate deciding factor. There are Intel HD onboard graphics cards that can play GTA5 at steady 30 frames, for instance, but if we don't know your full system specs we won't be able to know what you can or can't play.

When I used it, it detected my dedicated graphics card though

Yeah, I heard about doing that. Perhaps I may do that.

There's literally no need to do that in most cases - if it's an integrated GPU then it's designed to automatically pull more system resources to process what it needs to.

But without knowing your actual system specs it's hard to tell if it will even make a difference.

If you're playing other modern games just fine then you could probably get away with playing GTA 5, but you'll have to settle for lower quality settings and sub-60 framerates.

@catboy0_0 I did what you said but I don't what you mean by "more than one display".

@Hexenherz

Processor: Intel Core i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50 GHz 2.71 GHz
RAM: 8.00 GB (7.88 GB usuable)
System type: 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor
Windows 10

Just ask if you need more specs.

This part says it's definitely shared memory, which means there's probably a way to increase it. As someone else said, it might do it automatically, but even then it might be capped based on your BIOS settings so you should check anyway.

Tap F2 or whatever on startup and look around.

On my Intel i5 theres a thing called GPU boost which seems like it would be what youre after to get best performance on integrated graphics. If you have it on PS4 already though Im not sure why youd want to.

There's a reason why, but I don't know if I'm allowed to say it on this board.
