I think that the subset of people who regularly use the internet for communication forums like this one is not representative of the American population as a whole, in a number of ways.

I'm spiritual without identifying myself with any particular religion.

I think a lot of people turn away from the religion that they were raised on because they're supposed to blindly believe in someone else's spiritual experience. It makes sense. You really need to have your own experience.

I became spiritual because of my personal experiences (with meditation, dreams, entheogens, etc). In the end, all we truly want is survival, happiness, and peace in our lives and spiritual practice simply works.

I suggest listening to Sadhguru for clarity on the topic of life/spirituality.

A) They're rapidly becoming less so
B) A good swath of those who might call themselves Christian don't really care that much about it
C) Most Christians are not the type to be on a video game website

Raised Catholic, current Agnostic. Many things help: being a skeptic pro-science, religious zealots being annoying/retrograde/hypocrites, greedy churches, and hearing tragedies such as my cousin suddenly dying before turning 19 being described as "God's design".

Atheist.

We never went to church except for weddings and funerals, but I was raised to believe there was a god, just that church wasn't a necessity to interact with god. I was also never baptized.

I believed the above for almost my entire childhood and teen years, then for various reasons became agnostic somewhere around my early 20s, then for various reason became an atheist, or really started to become an atheist, around my mid 20s. I say started to become an atheist because once I really started to suspect that there wasn't a god, there was still a bunch of logic to sort out to truly come to the conclusion there wasn't.
