It's probably unchanged/ irrelevant, but everyones jump animation is universally shorter, which probably means the window to shorthop is shorter

I don't think it's you. I keep missing attacks and follow-up opportunities because everything feels so fast. I'm getting used to it but the first hour I played was super jarring compared to Sm4sh.

I love Ganondorf in this game.
He's so fucking strong and obliterates everything. Well he already was that in Smash 4 but now he's faster and has extra reach when he uses his sword in his Smash attacks.

I only got to play it because a friend brought his Switch with him when visiting me this weekend. I'm holding out to get my own Switch until Animal Crossing is announced because I know there will be a bundle and I'm sure not planning to buy a Switch more than once

ANYWAY. Game is dope. Hope to play more of it soon. It is definitely a faster game @green_dragon. Will take adjusting to all players' movesets, even if they were your main.

Tagging since my brother and my mom both have Switches so I could try to play online with y'all in the next couple weeks.

Is the online lag bothering anyone else? I felt as if smash 4 had like no lag when I played (or at least very minimal) while this games online lag is as bad as brawl.

I've done some quick play matches online, and my god, they were awful. It's a shame the online is as bad as it is. I hope they fix it soon

I am, which is why i'm confused as to why it's happening.

maybe i just notice it because I play a lot of fighting games or maybe something else is going on.

but i can for sure tell the difference between playing alone versus playing online

Who uses up for jump or the X button for jump?

I'm having a little trouble getting used to the speed and timing in smash 5. Lol

I use 'a' to jump.

I wish there was a dedicated smash button (not stick) so that I can map smash the 'x'.

I also wish you could turn off smashing with the left stick

i really, really like k rool. did not expect that at all. simon and isabelle (<3) are great too. still less than halfway through unlocking everybody though. i want my zelda back. :(

I'm jumping back and forth on up and button for jump lol. And k rool is very good and I love simon as well.

Are people really complaining its too fast?

I like it fast, just takes a little while to get used too. I'm getting better each day. Jumping took some time for me to get used too. Sometimes the second or final jump doesn't register or something. I'm going to try the GameCube controller tonight as see if better than the pro controller.

If you press Jump+Attack at the same time, you'll do a short-hopped attack in the direction you're holding. It's not a complete substitute for short-hopping as a whole, obviously, but it may help you get out the attacks you're trying for.

I quite like Spirits' implementation here, much more than I did Stickers'. I do kinda wish each spirit had a little blurb, a la the trophies they replaced, but the smaller number that can be applied to a character and the fact that you don't need to come up with a complete loadout for each character you want to use make the whole system much more streamlined than I remember Stickers being. WoL just works well, and I pretty thoroughly enjoyed it start to finish, and that's more than I can say for Brawl's "let's shoehorn a platformer into a game where half the cast can barely jump."

That said, I can't really comment how well it works when Spirits are enabled for regular Smash. I see that ending less well because of the clear rock-paper-scissors nature of them, unless that's disabled there.

Probably whoever you were connected to or it's because of the mode. I played for a few hours in a private lobby and things were smooth as butter.

Thats true. My brother had a few matches lag because of other people. With some, it was fine. But with certain people, lag city...

I cleared everything on the adventure mode map, including everything in all the dungeons. Then I went and fought the boss. That's not the end. x_x There's another big map after that one with another villain. I kinda had a feeling something like that would happen. I still have some challenges left to get all the characters in adventure mode. Plus I still don't have Mii Brawler unlocked which is the only character I'm missing.
