Is the lag as bad just doing 1v1s with friends? It's probably better to try to get involved with a local scene anyway rather than rely on matchmaking.

I feel like it depends on other players connections, especially the host
Most games are lag free for me but I still do get those slideshows every now and then

did you lose to any of the challengers? the only way they stop coming when you beat classic mode is if you've gotten all of the initial encounters.

In games and more there is a door that shows up every 10 minutes that lets you rechallenge fighters you lost to

Final spirit fight for me is Fierce Diety Link, unless the game pulls another fake out. Fitting considering I've used Link for like 95% of fights, except for the stint I had with Captain Falcon(took out the Castlevania castle area of World of Dark with Captain Falcon)

Im about to stop playing online. For every good match I have, theres 10+ matches of stupid bullshit that pisses me off. Im sick of running into K. Rool players who spam projectiles only and Falco players who run away and only use their laser gun. How is playing like that even fun? And then when I get ahead, some players just forfeit the match and run off the stage. This feels worse than Smash 4 For Glory.

I don't play either one, but from what I've read Pichu is the biggest glass cannon in the game. He actually has more damage and knockback than Pikachu, but less range. But also the same speed, and speed is a big deal in Smash games. So good speed, damage, and knockback, at the cost of range and weight.

Still fun though. I feel like I do have a general sense of the movement and flow of the game. I just need to adjust to another person being on stage. That and following people off stage. Fortunately, using Pikachu, he has a ton of maneuverability off stage.

A good exercise is for every time you get punished or hit, think about why you got hit. Did you throw out a laggy move? Why did you throw that move out?

Starting to really think when you play Smash only makes it way more fun!

That part I understand. I play a lot of fighting games. I just don't have the specific fundamentals for Smash down yet. My off stage game is weak, and shielding is very different from guarding in a lot of fighting games. The fact that the way you face varies and isn't always towards your opponent takes some getting used to as well.

I wanted to use Pika Libre, but Pichu just feels so much better

There's a limit to how good Pichu can really be given how between recoil and its hilariously low weight, it pretty much puts itself at kill percent in the process of taking a stock, but dear god is it capable of being terrifying for the brief time it spends alive. Fights don't last long when that little rat is involved, that's for sure.

Online also occasionally resets to the default control scheme too which is annoying. Even when I choose my profile the c-stick will smash instead of tilt
