I mean for Cloud/Samus to end up being competitive that means Cloud would have to destroy MM for him to be strong enough to challenge Samus. So its either

A) Cloud destroys MM and then we get a cool Cloud/Samus match
or
B) We get a cool MM/Cloud match (one of the only two NN match-ups we haven't seen) followed by Samus destroying the winner

If Cloud/MM ends up close, that means Cloud has no shot at Samus so I'd root for MM for the lulz.

You can confirm there isn't SFF tainting the mix in Zelda/Sonic much so it does help quite a lot.

Keep in mind I had them all on the same tier anyway. I'd still have them there but Cloud is in the middle of it and Snake/Zelda are at the top. Mega and Pika beating Cloud wouldn't surprise me a ton at this point.

Fair enough, I still have it as Cloud>Zelda>MM=Pika>Snake for the moment as Link just distorts everything. Its a shame we likely won't get to see Zelda/Cloud or MM/Snake.

18 people fell off the Second Chance Top 50. PlasmaKappa, MarioLinkNES, P4wn4g3, LightningRocks, ScrawlKnight, PlasmaChief16, FreeJazzOutlaw, AughtforNaught, Croire, svr4ever, jorhead, Reg, Ringworm, 1stSamurai, Hajelikto, MAZZ0Murder, Kenri and Ultima_X did not have Snake and Samus winning.

I said yesterday that 1 day appearance was it for me, but if a few in the top 50 went for the Cloud upset, I may sneak back on. Not counting on it though.

Sounds about right. Of course, given the infrequency of contests these days, GotD 2010-2019 is probably going to be our next contest of any kind anyway, and I have to imagine it'll be the favorite to win that.

Other games likely to finish highly in the next GotD include Skyrim and Mass Effect 2. And...I honestly don't even know what the fourth member of our Final Four would be assuming the bracket is set up properly to get the four best games all alive then. Odyssey? Smash Ultimate?

As for the biggest contenders, no one's mentioned Dark Souls yet. And after the repeated series fiascos plus Shepard bombing well beyond any expectations, I wouldn't expect Mass Effect 2 to be a true contender.

I imagine Skyward Sword has a chance of getting in just because it's a console Zelda and because the GotD field will be fairly weak on average.

The interesting thing about the next GotD is that we should see 4 mainline Pokemon games (BW, XY, SM, Gen 8) in the contest. The last GotD had GSC, RSE, and DPP in the bracket.

To be fair, Groose is only a side character and Midna has always looked pretty terrible as well despite TP being fairly strong.

To be fair, Groose is only a side character and Midna has always looked pretty terrible as well despite TP being fairly strong.

Eh, Midna's been around the fodder line at worst every year, which is a huge step above ...that.

Also, Link wins that four-way, no question about it.

Cloud did get his first lead cut at 1:05 AM, so he has gotten that out of the way.

We're not really far enough into the night vote for Cloud to be gaining percentage consistently. I wouldn't expect that to happen until 3:00 AM at the earliest.

Cloud will get some from Europe/Asia but if he was going to get a big movement, the kind needed to get him back to 44%, it would be from the anti-FFVII early vote shifting into the rest of the poll vote. Id be shocked if Undertale got a rally though. It got a rally because it was just released and was a fad basically at the time. Dont see it maintaining enough relevance for a rally. I wouldnt expect much from it.

What are BR games? Is that a company?

BR = battle royale (think the movie Battle Royale), a fairly new, but already phenomenally successful sub-genre in gaming whose main representatives are Fortnite and PUBG (PlayerUnknown's BattleGrounds). I can't see any battle royale games getting major rallies myself, due to the generally negative sentiments around PUBG, because Fortnite's playerbase is either under 13 or won't care, and because the other battle royale games aren't nearly big enough.
