Second time I face an Incineroar in the game and again it is one that for some inexplicable reason starts with a Final Smash available and the ability to launch me further. So either I get knocked off-screen by the Final Smash or get hit by that ring summoning move while trying to dodge it...

Such brilliant game design...

You need to adjust for your personal tastes when facing other people. You're probably playing with spirits enabled.

Yea, that is the game design, it's not inexplicable, my man. You can equip spirits as well to give you an edge in the battle. Some fights are brutally hard, and you get rewarded with awesome spirits.

Not against something this stacked. Trying it with and without spirits that claim to explicitly help, make no difference in when the unblockable moves become 1-hit knock outs.

You can also try powering up you spirit. Play a couple classic mode stories. You gain spirits from winning. And snacks to power them up. That might help... you can also get gold to buy snacks from winning classic.

I've only unlocked like 30 characters, and already I have way more than I know what to do with lol. Mostly been doing 1v1 with my brother, and I've played about 2 and a half hours of Adventure mode. Idk if this game is going to be played competitively like Melee, but, at least to this casual player, it has good game feel.

Having played more of WoL, I take back what I said about not liking that it unlocks characters as they're found. I thought the pace was going to be faster, but it's just fine as it is. I've also been unlocking a new one (which seems to be randomish) after every Classic clear or after 2-3 Smash matches, so WoL is actually seeming like the slower way to do it. I'm at 36 characters now, so they're coming very quickly.

Yeah, that's been most of mine. The challenger fights are proving to be more difficult than I'm expecting. I've actually failed a few, though that's mostly because I'm very rusty (prior to yesterday, I think it's been over 3 years since I played any Smash at all) and tend to be using somebody I'm less familiar with because I just did Classic with them. Cloud in particular took a few tries because I just had no idea how to handle him (I never got any of the Smash 4 DLC). They've added a hidden menu option to face challengers again if you fail, though (it appears after a couple matches/Classic runs), and let you select your character there. It's a nice little addition, since it means you can keep unlocking other ones even if you'r stuck on one.

Yeah. Same here. I think I failed to three. But I got one of them during the first rematch. Gotta get the other 2, though. Haha.

I was thinking about the GC controller. But the pro controller should work just as well. I will probably get one of they make a Zelda one, though. Or another character I like...

ive been liking it. no rumble and it does requires batteries. havent noticed any lag personally. using the trigger to get your shield up takes a harder press when compared to the pro controller but its the same exact feel as the original gamecube controllers

I finished unlocking them all yesterday. Chrom was the only one who beat me. He knocked me out even though I only had 30% damage, wtf.

I later unlocked him through the story mode instead.

I have like 18 or 19 characters left to unlock. Also been doing a ton of World of Light. Some of these battles are really clever. And some are really silly, like Buzz Buzz.

They have a 7 day trial online membership available for free on the eShop. I don't think I'll be buying an online membership until they fix the online in SSBU, it's that bad.

They do, but only in the main gallery. Most times they appear, all you get is a little icon.
