An 11 y/o Illinois boy wanted to test the theory that when you place your tongue ona frozen metal pole, it'll stick...and boy it did and it HURT like a B**** too!!

Spencer Cline found out the hard way that your tongue does indeed stick when you lick a frozen pole after he watched "A Christmas Story" where one friend dares another to put his tongue on a frozen pole.

He said "I was just tempted to. I've seen the movie a christmas story which kind of inspired me"

The movie, released in 1983 is a classic christmas staple as it features a young protagonist named Ralphie who dares his friend, Flick to put his tongue on a frozen pole leading to a crisis!!

Spencer, a Middle School student at Sandwich was with his friend, Cole Leeper he did it himself to see if it would stick..and immediately it DID!!..

With his tongue in place, he panicked and struggled to communicate and wasn't joking around. He said "Cole thought at first i was messing with him. I told him no, it's really stuck, but he at first couldn't understand what i was saying"

The friend ran around like a chicken and searched for hot water and then called an ambulance. Spencer managed to free himself in the meantime.. He said "I was trying to get it off, but i wasn't pulling. I was being gentle and freaking out. Some of my taste buds came off of that pole"

Emergency services arrived and shortly after he was able to pull away from the pole.

Fire Chief Nathan King said "Every crew member there was reminded of the movie and laughed at that scene"

He's expected to make a full recovery fortunately.

So a kid sees a movie wherein a kid sticks his tongue to a poll and subsequently suffers greatly... is inspired to stick his tongue to a real poll in winter and thus do exactly the very thing that is portrayed to cause a good bit of suffering in a movie.

I wasn't that stupid as a kid. No one I knew at the time was that stupid at that age as a kid. Maybe one guy, but he was a college student and drank/smoked/etc. way too much, so you can at least argue he had damaged his attic by that point. 11 year old kids tend to be remarkably lacking in stupidity most of the time though. They are often NAIVE, sure. But stupid, not so much.

Since this type of news doesn't show up all the time, I'd like to assume its more an outlier. Like that Naruto-watching kid who thought it was a good idea to bury himself in sand.

Of course no consequences or any punishment for wasting the Emergency services time and/or tax payer money. Also, they look high af in that pic. The real tragedy is that they will likely breed at some point and create more loser garbage.
