there's gaps in my diary but I'm trying to be better about documenting what I watch and when. I'd say I've done a good job over the last half year.

In theaters, 34 (plus 8 that debuted only this year in my country; add that I've seen 2 movies twice, once alone and once with my mother - Mission: Impossible and Bohemian Rhapsody - 43 screenings). Elsewhere, 3 more (Annihilation on Netflix, Isle of Dogs on the plane, Skyscraper borrowed from someone who bought the Blu-Ray).

Top 8, in no particular order:
A Quiet Place
A Star is Born
Mission: Impossible - Fallout
Incredibles II
Black Panther
Avengers: Infinity War
Ant-Man and the Wasp
A Simple Favor

Bottom 5:
Hotel Transylvania 3
The Grinch
The Meg
Skyscraper
Venom

Just got back from Ralph Breaks the Internet

not gonna say anything about the movie yet but I will say this:

I went with my girlfriend to the 9:50pm showing and it was in one of the biggest rooms at the theater, and we were alone, which is a fucking awesome experience. Being in a massive theater and being able to openly comment on everything as it was happening without being assholes to anyone around us was a ton of fun

Oh yes, I was fortunate enough to have that experience at a special showing of The Exorcist extended cut ("The Version You've Never Seen) Halloween 2010 - it was just me, a friend, and my two sisters in a huge theater. My youngest sister did shadow puppets, I used the bathroom then spider-walked back in, it was fantastic.

When I saw Green Book last night, I was all alone. It is not uncommon for me to be in an empty theater because I almost always see the first or last showing of the day.

Starting with last year, I've been to a few movies where I was the only one in the theater. In 2018, experienced it with a Brazilian movie (have to support my country's production! even if the ticket was free) and All The Money In The World.

It's not like... terrible, just super forgettable. Except Deric McCabe's performance, which is one of the worst child acting performances I've ever seen in a movie this big. It's so bad that every seen he's in is kind of hard to watch.

I tried Criticker, but wasn't really a big fan of it. Found the layout of Letterboxd a lot more enjoyable.

I used to use and love Favslist for everything, but it hasn't really been usable for years after the founder died, which is a real shame

My favorite film that I saw this year (and that I've seen in recent years period) was The Night is Short, Walk On Girl.

My outstandingly bad viewing experience from 2018 was Rampage, I suppose, not that it screened in front of me of my own volition.

I enjoyed Rampage. It had a good deal of issues, sure, but the actual Rampage scenes were fun as hell

Also Ralph Breaks the Internet places 34th out of 45 for me

which isn't as bad as it sounds; I'd say everything about 40th is like a 7/10 at least

Besides the giant monsters, I also liked Jeffrey Dean Morgan, he makes every scene funnier with that hammy performance.
