should be easy to hit the 50 mark!

2018 movies I still want/need to see:
Widows
Green Book
Roma
Ralph Breaks the Internet (planning on this tomorrow!)
Aquaman
First Man
Skate Kitchen
Christopher Robin
The House with a Clock in its Walls
Leave No Trace
Mandy
The Favourite
The Hate U Give
Can You Ever Forgive Me?

there's more that I'll probably see once they get award nominations

Impressive! I saw 27 movies at the theater last year and streamed/rented another 5 before Oscar time but I'm lagging way behind for 2018 (maybe at 14/2). From your list I'd say

Ralph Breaks the Internet - loved it, lots of laughs and as good as the original IMO

Green Book - pretty by the numbers, but it's funny and the leads have strong chemistry so they make it work

First Man - interesting historically but not as gripping as I'd hoped. Claire Foy is excellent however

that's pretty much exactly what I'm expecting from those tbh

they're both on my list pretty much exclusively because they'll be heavy hitters this award season I think

I had Moviepass for the first half of the year before it started being terrible

now I get 2 free movies from Sinemia, plus ordering tickets from Atom gets you a free one every 5th movie, so that's an extra every other month

though I think the Atom deal ends at the end of this year

I miss having my unlimited movies but I knew that deal was too good to last

I didn't think Cloverfield Paradox was very good, but worst movie of the year?? dang.

Christopher Robin is very "meh". As far as child characters from fantasy worlds being pulled back in as adults, Hook is miles better. The 2nd half was kinda cute though, and Ewan MacGregor makes it endearing.

For what it's worth, I tried to avoid movies I thought would be bad for the most part. In fact, my bottom 5 are also the only 5 movies I saw this year that I'd say were outright bad. I'm sure there are worse movies I didn't see, but it's by far the most disappointing movie of the year.

I pretty much assumed it would be essentially Paddington, but with a bit of the cleverness swapped out for the inherent charm of Winnie the Pooh, which is fine by me. Paddington 2 just missed my top 10, and that's only because it's a great year for movies. Of the 44 I've seen, I'd give about 30 at least an 8/10

Yeah I'm lucky, a lot of stuff comes to the Seattle area so even with MoviePass at the beginning of the year and now AMC A-List (which is excellent) it can be hard to keep up (I totally missed The Hate U Give, Eighth Grade, and the new Drew Goddard film, among other things). I recommend making Boy Erased a priority if it shows up in your area, though. It seriously hit home for me and more people should get the opportunity to see it.

I saw someone rank Truth or Dare under Slender Man and I don't get that. At least Truth or Dare is so stupid it ends up being kinda funny and easy to make fun of. (I have several inside jokes because of that movie alone). Slender Man was just a dumb try hard boring mess. I consider Winchester the same. I would watch Truth or Dare five more times before I watch Slender Man or Winchester even one more time.

Truth or Dare was absolutely terrible and also one of my most anticipated movies early in the year

The first time I saw a trailer for it I immediately thought "this is going to be hilariously bad" so I took my girlfriend to see it opening weekend

and while I have it ranked as one of the worst movies of the year that's definitely not a reflection on how much I enjoyed it

My girlfriend and I will still randomly say to each other "Touch me again with that hand and I'll break it!" It's such a poorly done movie in every way.

The best part is how the Truth or Dare demon just randomly starts breaking the rules just because like "I dare you to tell the truth! LOL GOTCHU"

And when they build up to a touching moment where the gay friend finally confronts his homophobic father, they give us absolutely no pay off. They literally just have him appear in the next scene and go "Oh, my dad was cool with me being gay." It's incredible.

They actually did a better job with the ending as a somewhat clever piece of writing (not what actually happened but as a call back to the beginning of the movie) and that one piece of writing was better than it had any right to be. But man it's an entertaining dumpster fire.

Also, getting lost in all these movies is Searching. That movie is outstanding and deserves props.

yeah there's a handful like that. Thoroughbreds, Death of Stalin, etc.

If it was publicly released in the US in 2018 I count it as a 2018 movie. If it technically released in 2017 at the Venice Film Festival and there was no way to conceivably see it until this year than it's a 2018 movie.

I must be around this number too, even considering that my country got some 2017 movies only in the first quarter (and sadly, RBTI and Creed II are also only coming in January). And a few of them with free tickets, too!

Will post more later, but haven't found Hereditary all that good (the ending has a weird tonal shift that lost me), specially compared to A Quiet Place.
