Today's episode of Bunny Girl was really good, I thought.

I liked how easily the actor/boyfriend drama was finally swept aside. Kaede making progress was nice to see too, I'm glad we're back to 3-episode pacing so nothing has to be rushed. The amnesia reveal at the end might justify how attached Kaede is to her brother if he was literally the only person she knew for a long time. She had access to a TV too so I choose to believe she watched certain imouto anime and got the completely wrong idea about how sisters should act from that.

The scene about her leaving the house was pretty powerful, but after the reveal I realized that she didn't even remember what is outside which was even scarier to her

I've had to spend the last couple weeks multitasking while watching TV, so anime hasn't been an option and I've falled a little behind on some shows.

Instead, I'm just about done catching up with a long running anime dub; Law & Order: SVU.

Ice-T-kun is really growing as a character.

So I saw an ANN article the other day about BanG Dream S2 being directed by the same person who directed Katana Maidens and I thought 'oh, cool'. Unfortunately, that also spurred me to look into BanG Dream S2 for the first time. Apparently they're switching over to full CGI (what why, S1 was normal except for the OP and it looked fine). Worse, it's CGI from the people who made ID-0, literally the worst anime I ever finished. Like, the only way I could rationalize ID-0 existing in a just world was as a warning for others to stay far, far away. Why is this happening.

I guess what I'm saying is that I'm still excited for BanG Dream S2 but the writing had better be on-point because it's going to look atrocious.

Don't wanna get my hopes up, though... Also don't think everything could be stretched out for so long.. Feels like they attempted to resolve a lot of plot threads these last few episodes since they really began running short on time.

It was back in 2005 and not Japanese, though they did shoot the film in Japan. I forgot if it's good or not but it did make a lot of money.

Owarimonogatari 2nd Season completed, and with that I suppose I'm there with everyone else waiting for the next season. Overall, Monogatari was a unique series and I'm glad that I watched it for that reason, even if the quality of individual arcs was uneven. There's an arc ranking below and I don't think anything there will be too surprising given the opinions I've shared in the past. Still, I should talk about S2 first I guess

It was tough to rank these three arcs because, more than any other section of the series so far, these felt like one big arc split into three. Mayoi Hell was alright once it got past the obligatory sexual assault. Mayoi is good and it was nice seeing her again, and the revelation that the doll guy was part of the plan all along was neat. Not a whole lot happened here to help it stand alone as its own arc, though. Hitagi Rendezvous was something I imagine Senjougahara fans loved, but she's nowhere near my favorite. What few aspects of her character I do like only show up with her friendship with Hanekawa. Araragi, by contrast, brings out all the things I hate about her, so... yeah, this arc wasn't for me. It was still better than it could have been, mostly because of the Ougi dream. And they called each other by their given names! I mean, it was heavily implied that they've had sex before, but if anime has taught me anything given names are beyond sex.

I thought Ougi Dark was neat, mostly because it was a culmination of a whole bunch of stuff that came before it. I could listen to Gaen summarizing plot threads and bringing together past set-up all day and I wouldn't get bored, tying things together is the one thing I can't fault Monogatari on. Still, this didn't feel as epic as it could have been. Araragi felt very much like a pawn in Gaen's complex plan, which isn't the most satisfying position for the main character to be in. I also think they oversold his 'growth' at the end there when he saved Ougi. I readily acknowledge that I'm an idiot so I imagine 90% of Monogatari went over my head, but from what I could tell the big deal was that he was saving himself. Symbolically that may have been true, but in a literal interpretation he was saving Ougi (and sacrificing himself in the process just like he always did). Like, taking aspects of Araragi and creating another person to represent them undercut the symbolic meaning for me since he was just saving another person like always. Araragi at the start of Bakemonogatari would've done exactly the same thing, this wasn't a result of growth. Ah well, it was still a nice conclusion, it just didn't resonate quite as hard as I think the writer wanted it to.

Ah right. I remembered characters for that ranking mostly by reading arc names. Gaen felt more like a plot device than a real character most of the time but that's still enough for her to rank ahead of Nadeko. Rouka should be on there too now that I think about it, ahead of Ougi.

In the end, the good/meh/bad balanced out to the point that I'll rank the series above average, a high 6/10. If Kaiki had somehow been the main character instead of Araragi that score would be two or three tiers higher!
