It's not really cheesy at all, it's just kinda meh. If anything, it's replaced cheesiness with eyerolling at the middle sister's overly liberal silliness.

Like, the social justice stuff is bad enough that it makes me wonder if it's meant to be a character flaw. In the first episode, her lashing out about it is implied to be because she's angry about her mother's death. And after shit-talking the sorority that her youngest sister cares a lot about, it turns out that the sorority is genuinely just a group of somewhat ditzy girls who care about each other and do some ill-advised charity work.

honestly genuinely good episodes were rare in charmed but a lot of episode had good moments and were cheesy fun

the first time the show had a darklighter on wasnt great. but it had some really good moments for piper

Seems like the show had potential to be good at certain points but they couldn't keep the good momentum going & pretty much ended up with a messy mixed bag a lot of the time.

the first time the show had a darklighter on wasnt great. but it had some really good moments for piper

these are good choices, but the early seasons really benefit from Cole and Phoebe who just add that exciting IT couple to the show. Honestly Cole's arc all the way through season 4 is probably where Charmed strikes that perfect balance of cheese and serious.

Not to say every episode in the first 4 seasons is a homerun, but they seem to be overall pretty good.

Season 5 and later is where we start hitting questionable and downright bad stuff. but even then the show hits a few homeruns.

Season 8, without any debate is the shows worst season and it is it's last. That said even that season manages to have a fantastic finale which is shocking given the entire season up to that point was complete dog shit.

thats basically every show in history just about lol. That said, charmed very much was monster of the week. Charmed the original also had its unique fun quirks. the spell rhyming, the lore, the book of shadows, demons looked more demonish instead of humans in leather clothes, the sisters not only looked like sisters, but felt like sisters and had real life problems. There was no SJW crap despite the shows very feminist narrative, it didn't rub it in your face 24/7

One thing that Charmed the original really does well is after Prue dies, the new witch Paige comes in and really manages to fill her role wonderfully. It's an impossible task, but Rose Mcgowen nails it. Season 4, her debut season, is in my view the shows strongest season.

really wish hollywood would cool off with these kinds of characters, they almost always come across just as bad as you'd expect. You can have a liberal character, but dial back the insanity a bit lol.

They didn't add nearly enough shadow effect. That scene where he talks to evil scientist warlock in relatively bright light? Awful.

I thought the episode was pretty good for the most part i guess.

A little disappointed they didn't save a little more of the Scythe stuff for a few more episodes & i hope they don't forget about it after this & we never see or hear about it again.

you know i blame charmed for wayward sisters not being picked up
supernatural had an episode last year called wayward sisters. it focused on claire novak as she teamed up with jody, alex and donna to rescue sam and dean
basically all the most well liked female recurring characters and alex were involved in the episode
it was a backdoor pilot for their own show
and it was one of the best rated and most watched episodes of the season and was pretty much a sure thing to be picked up by the network

then they chose not to pick it up as a series so the wayward sisters are not going to get their own show
the theme was sisterhood and the bonds of family you chose over the ones you are born into.

a bunch of women fighting monsters while being sisterly is really similar to charmed
so it feels like they didnt pick up wayward sisters in favor of charmed

Yep, that's exactly how they're gonna go with it now. Its predictable but hopefully it still will be worth to watch it.
