Current Events > Alright, so the Charmed remake series is improving somewhat but *SPOILERS*

The writing still has some improving to do.

The characters are a little less annoying than they were before thank god, and its not so heavy handed & in-your-face with its messages as much anymore but

they are killing or getting rid of characters too soon, like in episode 4, they kill off a guy named Trip who was barely around and wasn't really in the episodes enough to get to know him and so his death didn't have an impact on people watching and wasn't really important enough in the story to matter all that much.

Then they get rid of one of the main characters, Mel's girlfriend Niko in episode 5 after she'd really hadn't been around long enough to really have an impact again on the people watching it. If they were gonna do this then they atleast should've waited for a little while longer after she'd be more established.

I didn't really care about Trip and I'm not sure you were really meant to. He was more a plot device to show that the Elders really don't give a shit.

And because those Elders don't give a shit, it baffles me that they are somehow completely fine with altering time around the incredibly important Charmed Ones just to save one woman.

The Elders really are assholes in this one that's for sure. But the writers really should learn to not kill off or get rid of characters too soon, especially ones that might be more important.

Tbh, I'm glad we're not getting a ton of Mel's relationship drama. She's already the worst character, so compounding that with the typical CW relationship bullshit would make her truly awful.

Eh, that's true. Still a little bit too soon to just get rid of her GF that soon and expect most people to care and have a reaction to her being gone.

Another thing they need to not do is make pointless decisions like in episode 5, Harry moves in with the sisters to help protect them from things better but in the newest episode they have him move back out again after having him just move in with them previously.

So that was stupid and pointless to have him do.

I mean, what's the point in him moving into the house anyway when he doesn't seem to have any non-teleportation magical powers anyway? Or when he can use his one magic power to instantly appear?

Exactly, he would just get in the way anyway unless Mel used her time-stop power to freeze the attacker(s) if that even works on the evil thing(s) or something.

Plus, he can just show up anytime they call for him anyway so it was really dumb and pointless for them to do that.

And where they're going with this in a later episode or two is so obvious.

Macy is gonna become a bad guy, either by the bad guys using her blood to make her go bad or her finding some sort of thing that brings out her darkness that she has inside her.

Which will then lead to her being a villain for 1 episode probably and joining up with the bad guys to try to kill the 2 other girls, which at the end will have her rejoin her sisters again, to either kill the son of the villain of the season who went with Macy to kill the other 2 or he escapes before they can kill him.

Either way it's very predictable what's going to happen pretty soon.

It's not really a surprise that one of them will go evil for a while either, it was a recurring plotline on the original.

@pegusus123456 I give it 1 maybe 2 episodes before Macy's back to being a good guy again after they probably plead and make her realize that she's not evil and she can fight the darkness inside her and have her turn back good again to stop the son of the main villain at the end of the episode.

i will say this though

tripp wasnt a major character he was like a 1 episode character who existed to be the first person the charmed ones lost so his death didnt have to be meaningful to the audience it just had to be meaningful to the characters which is was since it hurt mel's girlfriend and it proved that the elders were dicks (just like the original series)

writing off nico so early was really stupid. this would have been a really sad thing had it happened towards the end of the season after we got to know nico better since this sacrifice on mel's part would have been more meaningful

@yusiko Yeah, they did it way too soon and they really should've waited to like near the end of the season like you said. They need to not rush things because it doesn't help with anything really.

I like how the spells are done in Latin now. In the original, there was always a rhyming motif which always came off as extremely corny to me.

I've never seen the original series but i've known about it for quite some time now, but i kinda don't have an interest in watching it because i watched Obscurus Lupa's retrospective review of all 8 seasons & its not a very good show overall.

It had its good moments but they could never keep it going in the good direction and pretty much would derail the show again the very next episode mostly.

The original Charmed IMO was not a good show. It was watchable and enjoyable but often for the wrong reasons. Honestly the remake is enjoyable for the same thing. It tries too hard and I enjoy how much it fails.

Yeah, and i hope they can actually improve this one and keep it going in a good direction so i can have a good supernatural themed show to watch again, but this time as its still showing new episodes each week.

Macy said she was 28 i think in episode 4 but Mel looks older than her so she should be the oldest.

In fact Mel's actress was born in 1984 so she's 34 now.

Actually the actress who plays Macy really is 28 in real life, so why they didn't go with the actual older woman as the oldest sister i don't know.

@Mr_Karate_II As are the majority of reboots and such but it hasn't been confirmed if the OG Charmed Ones don't exist in this show's universe or not yet.

the premise of this reboot sounded awful

nothing i've seen in this topic screams I MUST SEE THIS.

That said, I'm curious from fans of the original, how this show is? does it do it justice? or does it take the already occasionally cringe levels of cheese from the original and kick it up to 10000? To be fair the original had some great stuff in it as well.
