Yeah but it makes the infinite light grind infinitely more bearable. >_>

Also... I'm not sure if this goes against Squenix's terms of service. It's in that grey area where it's hard to tell. You're technically not using some broken exploit like the ungarmax bug from last year... but you're still doing something they probably don't want you to be doing. But you're also just using the tools they gave you in a creative way.

Idk, I might open a support ticket tomorrow and ask them if it's okay...

Oh, Eureka... It is telling when the most fun people have is when they're AFK doing other things, or else playing the content in a way that deviates from intent.

Yeah... in a full 3 hour Pyros session I made 24 light crystals. We got so efficient at it that in the last 30 minutes of the instance I made 8 crystals.

I had a big long post that I was composing for about an hour, but I decided it was a mess, and I'm going to take a couple days to get all my thoughts together.

But what I will say, is that gameplay wise, I did NOT like this game. I thought it was too simple, and even by FF standards, way too easy. And then towards the end it turned into this weird minimalist horror game... it was kind of a mess lol. Though after that part ended, and the final chapter and boss rush it did get a bit more challenging, and that was the best part of the game. The story though? I actually liked it a whole lot. Everyone was telling me I'll need to watch Brotherhood and Kingsglaive to understand what was going on, and I completely disagree. I didn't watch either, and I was understanding what was going on pretty clearly. I understand that as they patched the game throughout its life they added more cutscenes and story bits, so maybe that's why I liked it so much, because I got a more complete story than what was originally there. Admittedly there are a few moments where I wasn't really sure what was happening, but they did provide some info either immediately after, or a few minutes after and I was like "oooh I get it". And there were a couple moments that didn't really flow that well. But overall, I liked the story. I actually didn't like the story at first, but around the time I got to the part where you get the sword behind the waterfall, it clicked for me. It's like a fairy tale in a pseudo-modern setting, but with swords and magic and gods and all that good stuff, and then I started to like it a whole lot, and then I didn't mind the cell phones and product placement nearly as much. (Though you're never going to convince me that I can pay for a phoenix down with American Express)

So for now what I'll say is, if you're looking for a FF with good gameplay, this is not it. If you're looking for a FF with a well-told story, play it to the end.

Also, if you're looking for the game with the sexiest ever Dragoon then XV might be a good contender, because yum Aranea.

Aside from cup noodles I failed to notice product ads.

As far as difficulty I found this game harder than 7 definitely. But I admit I'm just not as good at action based games as some people. But for me it's probably the second easiest after 7. If you like the gameplay mechanics at all and want challenge play comrades solo.

I agree on the story. Hell you don't even need the dlc to understand what's going on let alone the movie and anime.

Edit: comrades mechanics are slightly different but not much.

I still think, to this day, that Mystic Quest was more challenging and in-depth with its gameplay than FFXV.

Never played it. I'm talking mainline games. Never got the difficulty gripe when anything past NES era just about is piss easy. Wasn't until X I started seeing some challenging moments again. 7 though really takes the cake. Needs zero strategy aside from mash attack and heal when needed. Could say the same for 8 but that's provided you got a good grasp on the junction system.

New Final Fantasy spin-off announced. War of the Visions Final Fantasy Brave Exvius. >_> (yes that's really what it's called)
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znKIhbl0yTM" data-time="

I've never played Brave Exvius, but it's a free-to-play phone game I think. People are saying this thing apparently has ties to FFT, but if it's a ftp phone game I think I'll pass. =/

Also, I hear this tech demo from about 6 years ago might actually be a proof of concept for FFXVI.

But, again, it's pretty old, so who knows.

Been busy the past few days, I still want to go back and complete all the hunt marks. I did go clear out Castlemark finally and completed the Armiger... then I left and got a hunt to go fight the Jabberwock again. -_- So I'll do that once I have the key to open the dungeon doors... wherever the hell that is.

Also, been filling out my Triple Triad deck in FFXIV. I'm very close to completing 300 roulette matches for that card. I have 60-something NPCs defeated. 160-something cards collected. I'm guessing most of the cards I'm missing are from the Gold Saucer and random dungeon drops.

Also, both volumes of Encyclopaedia Eorzea should get here today. :D

Also been playing FF4 Advance at night. That game is good, but that version is very very broken lol. The ATB doesn't work at all. Putting the battle speed to the fastest setting makes the game stupidly easy because the ATB doesn't have a god damn clue who's turn it is. You'll tell Kain to attack, and in the time it takes him to ready his hit, Rydia will just get 3 turns in a row for no fucking reason. Then Cecil gets a turn then Kain will attack lol

The key is at the hunters main area. Medico or whatever the place is called. North Western side of the map. An old lady on a porch gives it to you

Yeah, and strangely enough the Advance versions of 5 and 6 don't have that problem lol. But you can break those games in other ways. In the original version of 6 most of the stats didn't actually do anything. They fixed that in the Advance version, and it turns out the best thing to do is just max out everybody's speed and magic stats, and spam Ultima. It's like 4 Advance but even easier lol.

So your saying if get a SNES classic that version of 6 will be shitty. Damn 6 was already low on my list of final fantasy games

Not that it's shitty, it's a fantastic game, but it has some issues.

In fact, @BTB made a rebalancing mod for it called Brave New World, where he fixed a lot of the problems, and changed how pretty much everything works. He knows way more about the game than I do.

I'd say the best version is the GBA, then SNES, then PS1. I've never played the phone/pc version, but I'm not interested in those.

PC version of FFVI should be like any other version of FFVI but I haven't played it (I do own it).
PC version of FFV is definitely the best version, problem is that some FF5JF runs are not possible with it due to some glitches being fixed.

GBA version if you can get it, but it's not perfect. I'm not saying emulate it, but it needs a color correction mod for best results. Also IIRC it doesn't sound quite as good as the SNES version. But the non-working mechanics from the SNES version work now, and it has a new endgame dungeon that will really test your skill and knowledge of game mechanics, and there are new Espers.

Oh, also, the GBA, SNES and I think even PS1 versions all have different translations. Ted Woolsey translated the SNES version, and that's a controversial translation filled with errors and a lot of changed stuff. Like, Siegfried's name is spelled 3 different ways within seconds of meeting him lol. But I happen to like the Woolsey translation. It was the one I grew up with, and it has a lot of character.
