Not really a wave. More of a slight blue rain - absent recounts changing anything, they've got the house by a small margin, they haven't got the senate (appears they've lost seats there if anything), exact margins aren't confirmed yet.

Still probably enough to calm things down a bit, now that the two parties have to work together.

I mean, this was the least surprising result. The senate seats up for grabs were almost entirely Dem seats anyways, so there was barely any territory to be gained and fucking tons to be lost. The fact that there weren't that many lost seats in the senate for the Dems is a good thing. It was totally unrealistic for the Dems to take the Senate and anyone who said otherwise was full of shit. They would have needed to keep ALL their seats and take what few GOP seats there were up for election. The fact that it was even a consideration at all says a lot on its own.

Meanwhile the Dems have taken the House. They were the favourite going in but when the rural counties rolled in first it looked very sketchy. There definitely wasn't a fucking tsunami of Dem voters. Probably has lots to do with the complete bullshittery in places like Texas and Georgia, but that's hearsay. The point is, the house has been taken with a comfortable margin to account for line-toers. The Dems will be able to shoot down Trump's asinine fucking bills with impunity and head his various investigations, since Congress directs those investigations, not the Senate.

This was a very, very good night for the Dems.

Dems won the house as expected, didn't win the senate as expected.
